Data protection at SWR.de.
The SWR takes the protection of personal data very seriously and we want the users (= users) to feel safe when visiting our website. Here we explain what data we collect and how we use it.
Anonymous and ad-free use
Users surf anonymously on the SWR.de website. We do not collect personal data without express consent and we do not create user profiles. Our pages are ad-free and therefore do not contain any tracking programs from advertising providers that log individual surfing behavior.
Personal data
We only receive data relating to our users as individuals, such as name, telephone number or email address, if we are given this data expressly – for example, because users want to subscribe to a newsletter and provide us with the appropriate email addresses for sending. We store this data for as long as the relevant SWR service is to be used, after which it is deleted. We treat personal data as strictly confidential and never pass it on to third parties. Users can view, correct, delete or block personal data at any time or revoke their consent to their use (see below: Right to information). At no point is personal data necessary to use the SWR fake finder. We recommend choosing the nickname that must be entered to play the SWR fake finder so that it does not contain any personal data. The same applies to the choice of the classroom title.
log data
Browsers send a series of technical data when accessing our website, which are logged by the SWR.de servers. The IP address, browser identification and domain, the name of the file accessed, the date and time of the access, the amount of data transferred and the successful access are recorded in a log file.
All the data in the log files are, on the one hand, without direct personal reference and, on the other hand, are never combined with any personal data we may have stored. The log data are used exclusively for internal purposes and are never passed on to third parties. We use them, for example, to correct technical errors or to ensure that no unauthorized persons have gained access to our systems.
Statistical data
Separate from personal data and from the log data, we collect statistical data in a separate procedure, which document the use of our internet offers. With the help of this data, we analyze, for example, which areas of our offer are used most frequently or which videos were viewed how often on a certain day. At SWR Fakefinder, we record the progress of the game. At no time do we carry out a concrete observation of our users as identifiable persons. When using our website, data from usage are included in the statistical surveys without being able to draw any conclusions about the user as a person. A visit to this data protection page counts e.g. as one of about 600 anonymous visits a month.

We do everything we can to protect personal data from unauthorized access and misuse by using suitable technical and organizational measures. We would like to note that data security on the Internet cannot be guaranteed when communicating by email and we recommend that confidential information be sent by post.
