At the same time, this holiday destination is also an El Dorado for water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and adventurers: In addition to boat tours, the often calm Indian Ocean also invites to long snorkeling trips, where one can marvel at the spectacular underwater world.
Every year, numerous sun worshipers seek relaxation on the countless islands of the island state. You can spend a relaxing club holiday in the Maldives with your children – if you want to sit back and relax, book All inclusive. Especially in the frosty winter months, when Europe is covered by layers of snow and ice, the ten-hour flight to the Maldives is worthwhile, where the thermometer rarely falls below the 25-degree limit. City noise, stress and hustle and bustle make room for the sound of waves, exotic food and sunny relaxation.

There is hardly a resort that does not offer diving or snorkeling courses. Anyone who travels to the Maldives almost commits to a visit to the colorful underwater world. The house reef of the island of Ellaidhoo is only about twenty meters from the beach and is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole Maldives. When diving and snorkeling you will always come across fish that you and your children will probably only see from films "Find Nemo!" know. Keep your eyes open! Kids will also be amazed by the parrot fish, rays and small sharks!

Immerse yourself in the world of the locals
If you are spending your family vacation on the main island of Malé, you should definitely take a guided trip to the capital. Even if there are not many sights here, you have the opportunity to take a look "behind the scenes" to throw. The life of the locals takes place around the fish market, the fruit market and the Al Sultan Mohammed Thakurufaanu Mosque. Keep your eyes open even in the small side streets – here you can buy one or the other nice souvenir that will always remind you of your dream vacation.
Where are the Maldives?
Located south-west of Sri Lanka and India, the Maldives are located in the beautiful Indian Ocean. Overall, the state consists of several atolls with a whopping 1,196 islands. 220 of them are inhabited by locals and 87 islands are used for tourist purposes. With this knowledge, the name of the country is not surprising: Maldives means translated "chain of islands".
The only right one city is Malé on the main island of the Maldives, at the same time it is also the Capital. This is also where the airport will be located if you and your family have chosen a hotel in the Maldives. It is not unusual for a seaplane to continue from here to your final destination. If you have booked your family vacation in the Maldives as a package tour, you do not have to worry – the tour operator will take care of everything in advance!
What is the weather like in the Maldives?
In the Maldives you and your children can expect a very constant warm and tropical climate with high humidity. Temperatures average 28 degrees, even at night the thermometer rarely drops below 25 degrees. It gets the hottest in April and May – then you can expect temperatures of up to 33 degrees. The best time to go for a family vacation in the Maldives is the dry season between December and May, when the humidity is also slightly lower.
You can splash around all year round: the water temperatures are around 28 to 29 degrees all year round. In May / June and in September / October, however, you have to leave the beach bag partially in the room: Then the monsoon changes and there can be storms and heavy rains.
