“Much too slow”

Before the plenary meeting of the German Bishops' Conference, the kfd once again criticizes a too slow processing of abuse cases in the church. A social media initiative now aims to make the association's expectations clear.

"Sexualized violence must finally be clarified within the Catholic Church uniformly and independently. The process is often far too slow and depends on the will of the diocesan administrations to clarify the situation," explained the federal chairwoman of the kfd, Mechthild Heil, in Dusseldorf on Friday.

Action "#MachtLichtAn"

The nationwide women's association supported the demand of the affected persons' initiative "Eckiger Tisch" for an independent reappraisal, also by the German Bundestag.

The kfd announced that it would continue its #MachtLichtAn campaign on Facebook and Instagram as well as on its homepage in the coming days. With clear messages it should be shown what the association expects from the bishops.

Catholic bishops will meet next week Tuesday through Thursday for their spring plenary session. It is to be held online for the first time because of the Corona pandemic.
