Minister Britta Ernst welcomes Healthy Children as new patron

v.l.n.r. Pastor Christiane Schulz, spokeswoman for the working group on the network for healthy children and project manager for the regional network in Ostprignitz-Ruppin; Britta Ernst, Minister for Education, Youth and Sport of the State of Brandenburg and patron of the Healthy Children Network; Andrea Thiele, coordinator of the Havelland regional network; Simone Weber-Karpinski, project manager of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz Süd regional network for the network meeting on April 11, 2018

Representatives of all 20 regional networks of the Healthy Children Network in Brandenburg warmly welcomed Minister Britta Ernst as new patron at their annual network meeting in Potsdam on April 11, 2018.

For the approximately 50 project managers and employees, the minister’s presence and the opportunity to talk to her at the network meeting – the network’s most important plenum each year – was the start of close cooperation. In her role as Minister for Youth, Ernst has taken over the patronage for the Healthy Children network. The network has special expectations.

The Healthy Children network has been making an important contribution to the healthy growth of children and greater family friendliness in the state of Brandenburg for 10 years now. This requires strong supporters in all areas who work for the network – including at the political level. The Healthy Children network is therefore all the more pleased to have won a supporter with Britta Ernst.

New sponsorship course in the Healthy Children network starts again

Get to know each other at the breakfast meeting – training begins on February 15th

Lauchhammer. Parents don’t need to know everything, they can just ask their volunteer godparents. These have been trained and are available to families with children from birth to the age of three as discussion partners and listeners. You can give tips and recommendations pronounce and if necessary arrange contacts to doctors, midwives or authorities. The best thing for family sponsors is to see the children grow up, to follow their development and to be happy with the parents about important milestones, such as the first tooth or the first word. Anyone who wants this is cordially invited to free sponsorship training to prepare for this activity. The kick-off is on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 5 p.m. in the KesselKino of the FamilienCampus LAUSITZ in Klettwitz. There are a total of 14 courses on many interesting topics, such as parent-child bonding, applications and funding opportunities, childhood diseases, healthy child nutrition and language development. The events take place in the following eight weeks and on two dates in May, mainly on Mondays and Wednesdays in Lauchhammer, Senftenberg and Klettwitz. There are currently 130 active family sponsors who accompany around 450 families in the southern OSL district. In the past ten years, around 1,600 families with their children have participated in the Healthy Children network in Lower Lusatia.

"We look forward to interested people from all over the region, from Altdöbern to Großräschen to Ortrand, for this wonderful volunteer job," says Daniela Graß, coordinator of the Healthy Children network. "If you cannot keep the date for the start of the apprenticeship, you can always start the ongoing apprenticeship later," she adds.

Registrations for February 15 and more information are available at (03573) 75-3471. For those who would like to get to know the Healthy Children network in advance, there will be a breakfast meeting with the network team in a café on Saturday, February 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Here, in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere, over a cup of coffee or tea and with fresh bread, you can ask your first questions about the network and volunteer work without any obligation. Registrations for this also under given telephone number.

The volunteering in the Healthy Children network is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over who would like to get involved with families. Special requirements are not necessary, only the time for the training should be included. Volunteering is not just support for others, it also means personal development. Regular round tables under guidance are used to get the latest information, to make contacts with other sponsors and to exchange experiences. In order to thank the volunteers for their commitment, the network also organizes an annual New Year’s reception and a summer party. This year the New Year’s reception will take place for the first time in the Theater neue Bühne in Senftenberg together with the volunteer "Green Women" of the Niederlausitz Clinic. “Green ladies and gentlemen” are laypersons who work voluntarily, independently and under their own responsibility Wishes of patients. They take the time to talk, listen and do small errands and help in coordination with the nursing staff.
