No fear of fresh deeds, children’s book publisher berlin, lyrics manuela sanne, wuppertal

Although the SUSIMA category drags a bit on its own – we authors don’t bob at all. The last entry was months ago; In the meantime, we have met several times and have agreed that the chapter on the past of the neighborhoods is a difficult and lengthy undertaking. But it will be! Each of us has an extensive to-do list over the holidays, between the years and also in the first two weeks of the new year, so that at the next meeting on January 13th we can finally tick off the first chapters as textually complete. The illustrations and image rights are a separate topic, we are working on it, that everything intertwines even better and we can really say chapter by chapter: done.

So we all have “No fear of redaction”, fitting the title of a very interesting booklet from the children’s book publishing house Berlin, GDR 1985. A few weeks ago I acquired it antiquarian, in the hope that I would like material and suggestions for one provide a short story about the student "Fritz". The story was finished yesterday, one of the last acts of this year. Friedrich Engels doesn’t let me go, I almost feel like a comrade. So I have to briefly introduce this old children’s book. The book, intended “for readers from 10 years old”, is a real treat. On the last page, the publisher and author thank the "Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany", but at least also the "City History Department in the Engels House" and the "City Archives Wuppertal".

Hans Krumbholz mainly describes Friedrich’s youth, but of course it’s about the big picture. So about the evil injustice in the world, the noble class struggle and the beneficial revolution. Krumbholz’s account begins with the announcement in the Elberfelder Zeitung of December 29, 1820, in the Friedrich Engels sen. announces the birth of his first child. It ended 28 years later when Friedrich Engels went on the barricades in Elberfeld in 1948 and was subsequently searched for in profile. "Now Friedrich is also one of those who are persecuted by the rulers," writes the GDR author, adding: "He did not perceive it as a flaw."

But apart from the partially subtle, true-to-life ramblings, the book is really a source of inspiration, because it shows many old documents, photos, handwritten notes and drawings by the young Friedrich Engels and you can learn a lot about the other members of the Engels family and more important ones Personalities from their environment.
