The treatment is generally not painful, but people who are sensitive to pain may experience a somewhat uncomfortable feeling. If you are afraid of the treatment, ask the dentist or orthodontist for an anesthetic gel. A prophylaxis session usually lasts about 30 minutes to an hour. But that depends on the condition of the teeth.
How often should you go to oral hygiene?
Professional oral hygiene should usually twice a year be performed. In the case of dental diseases like paradonditis, teeth cleaning should be done more often.
What to look out for after oral hygiene?
Since the gums can often be slightly chipped after treatment, you should do not eat or drink anything for about an hour after treatment. Pay special attention to regular dental care and cleaning after your teeth have been professionally cleaned.
The use of dental floss, interdental brushes and mouthwash, apart from brushing your teeth, is very important here in order to maintain the effect of oral hygiene for as long as possible.
