Our facility in bremen-schönebeck: kindertagesstätten nord e

The day care center Schönebeck is in the old building primary school Schönebeck housed.

Bremen’s Schönebeck district is idyllically situated in the countryside. The Schönebecker Auen as a landscape protection area are almost right outside the door. The closeness to nature is a treasure for the after-school children!

40 children aged 6-10 years attend the after-school care center every day from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..

After school, the children come straight to the after-school care center. All children first store their satchels and jackets in the cloakroom – where they are greeted by an employee and put on their slippers there. Afterwards, all children go to the group rooms on the 1st floor for lunch. The food takes place at group tables with fixed seats. An educational force takes part there together with 10 Children that Eat one. This creates a family atmosphere even in a large group.

After eating there is one "active pause" of approx. 30 minutes, in which the children can go outside and move, play and let off steam. They need this movement after a morning where they have been sitting quietly most of the time. After that, the homework is on the plan. The children of the 1st and 2nd as well as the 3rd and 4th class take care of these together and are each one of them educator* supported. This support is designed to offer the children a learning environment in which they have enough rest so that they can concentrate. In addition, we attach great importance to the children finding out how to organize their materials in such a way that they can work well on their own. B. Computational framework ("abacus"), Platelets and. available. We encourage the children to find solutions themselves and to help each other. In this way, the children gain confidence in their skills. "homework" are tasks that the children should do independently.

The federal ministers of culture have issued a recommendation on the maximum duration of homework. After that, 1st and 2nd graders should work on homework for a maximum of 30 minutes a day (first graders rather less), 3rd and 4th graders should work a maximum of 60 minutes per day. If we find that a child is exhausted after a certain time and can no longer concentrate, we stop doing our homework and make a note in the information booklet. We take into account that elementary school children with lessons and after-school care have a long day – quite comparable to an adult’s working day.

After the end of the homework period, the children have various options available. In addition to the creative offers, we focus on exercise:

Not only the beautiful and varied outdoor area is used for this. We like to move around a lot in nature and often visit the nearby ecology station. There we also take part in the project offers of the eco station, such as on the renewal of the footpath, the exploration of the ponds under professional guidance, u. ä.

Many companies deal with the topic "plants and animals". Discussions and observations about the native animals should make children curious and encourage them to be more aware of our environment.

We often go to playgrounds in the vicinity. We tinker, paint, bake and celebrate celebrations like birthdays, carnivals and Halloween.

The highlights of day-to-day care are the homework-free Fridays, when we have a lot more time and when we go to the cinema together, bowling, swimming or visiting the library.
