Safer online kids – more online safety for children

Everyone felt a cell phone and the starting age for children is sinking from year to year. The Bitkom interest group has recently called for cellphones to be made available to first graders in order to promote digital literacy. In all areas of our society, what children are allowed and not allowed to do, is always based on their level of development – eligibility to vote, business ability, alcohol consumption, driver’s license, etc. Only when it comes to online security do children seem to fall by the wayside. Parents in particular often deal with the topic relatively carefree – often out of their own ignorance – and leave the kids with their own cell phone at a young age. Not knowing what dangers are involved and what responsibility is being given to children. A responsibility that they often cannot do without help. It is not the children’s digital competence that is required here, but primarily that of the parents. You need to teach your children how to use online media and teach them which behaviors are okay and which are not. At Safer Online Kids, parents are offered a wide range of support on a wide range of topics so that they can also take responsibility for their children.
