Once upon a time in a distant realm where people lived in fear because of a great dragon, that every fear and harm to people and animals.

To calm him down, the villagers decided , to give the dragon a victim every day . And so a draw was made in which the person to be handed over to the dragon was selected.

One day bad luck happened to the king’s daughter. She was a young and beautiful princess who was greatly admired by the townspeople, especially her father, who refused to sacrifice her. When the citizens saw the king’s suffering, they offered to replace the princess, however the king refused to let others pay for his daughter’s fate . He was also aware that his daughter was part of the city and should therefore follow the rules previously agreed.

The princess left the city. In all Quiet towards the great kite go. Suddenly when I least expected it appeared a young knight in armor on a white horse . When she saw him, the princess told him about the dangers he could face in this place, but the Lord refused to leave her to her fate and told her that he was there to save her.

The knight was called Jorge and he faced the dragon as soon as he appeared. Both fought a great battle until the knight rammed a large spear into his chest. From the blood of the dragon shed, a beautiful rose bush was born, the princess’ Jorge gave after winning the battle.

And from this legend comes the tradition of giving roses to lovers on April 23.
