In the diocese of Munster, allegations of sexual abuse have been made against another deceased priest. These were directed against a clergyman who was pastor in Warendorf from 1975 to 1983

The abuse reportedly occurred shortly before the priest left Warendorf. He said the victim, who was already an adult at the time, reported the incident in March 2019 to an independent contact person at the diocese for procedures in cases of sexual abuse and also contacted local media and the parish in Warendorf.

Defendant could not be questioned due to dementia illness

Already in 2011, the diocese had received a tip about assaultive behavior by the priest, as it was said. In accordance with the guidelines at the time, there were talks and interviews. The accused priest, however, they could not have questioned about the allegations because of dementia disease. He died last year at the age of 83.

The diocese announced its intention to clarify the allegations and to enable the whistleblower to contact other possible victims. They are asked to report to the independent contact persons, he said. A few weeks ago, the diocese had already reported on a similar case.
