  • 300 g Chestnuts (with shell)
  • 2 pieces onions
  • 2 tablespoons Sunflower oil
  • 500 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

A typical winter dish is the chestnut soup. It is something special, you just get it in the fall and winter. In general, autumn is the beginning of the soup time and you should savor it. Nothing that warmed you up better on a cold rainy day than a hot steaming soup.

After having had a cabbage soup this autumn, we will continue with the chestnut soup. In the next few months will probably follow many more delicious soup recipes. The colder the winter should be, the more soups will be with us &# 128521;

The most famous chestnuts are probably from Maronimann in the “little witch” by Otfried Preußler.

Preparation: chestnut soup

  1. Before we put the chestnuts in the oven for 25 minutes at 175 degrees, we scratch a cross into the shell. Ideally, you have a chestnut cutter for this. Anyone who does this with a knife should definitely take care of his fingers because of the hard shell.
  2. After roasting the chestnuts they are peeled and chopped.
  3. Now we heat a little oil in the pan and fry in small diced onions.
  4. The onions are then quenched with vegetable stock.
  5. Now the chestnuts are added and we let the soup simmer for a few minutes on a low flame.
  6. Finally everything is pureed and seasoned with salt and pepper.
  7. Before serving, we then lift some freshly chopped parsley under it, because the eye eats as you know.

With a chestnut cutter you save a lot of work and your fingers stay healthy.

The first time I heard of chestnuts in my life was with Otfried Preußler “The Little Witch”. In it, the little witch has gloved warm feet to the chestnut man, who is standing in the cold, so that he does not have to freeze all day. At that time I wanted to taste hot chestnuts. My mom also bought some, but neither my brother nor me tasted the roasted chestnuts.

In the meantime, that has changed. Chestnut soup is now something delicious and also something special. It is only in the fall and then not so often. Preparing chestnuts is a bit more elaborate, which is why you do not even make it that easy. If there is then chestnut soup, then the whole family is happy.
