Singing with children – human children

Singing with children

When I was a child, my mother used to sing a song to me in bed in the evenings. I like to remember how safe and loved I felt then. I also calmed and comforted my own children with songs. Even newborns know the voices of their caregivers very well. If you hear this, babies and children will calm down more quickly.

If other people sing something that the child does not yet know well, they can soon find friendly interest with him. This makes it easier to build a relationship of trust. For example, sung a lot in play groups. Also some babysitters, grandpas, grandmas, aunts, … to sing with children and of course we educators in the family center human children. We sing while playing in a circle of chairs, at birthday parties, in the sparrow choir and Bible meeting, at seasonal celebrations or church services and often just in between. In summer, when we will help new children get used to it again, songs play a particularly important role. If a certain mountain song and some other simple songs keep recurring in the daily routine, this gives (new) children security. Where familiar things return, you feel at home.

The audition quickly becomes a singing together. It is better to sing a few songs often. We particularly enjoy what we are good at. In kindergarten, we also invent suitable movements for some songs. Children are very keen to move and learn the melody, rhythm and lyrics of the song. Adults also enjoy singing, clapping, or moving to music. Singing together is always a joyful community experience that brings different people closer together.

Children who play are also welcome to hear. Whether they are imitating the buzzing motor of a moving car, imitating animal voices, or bringing a small doll with a piping upper voice to life. All children practice difficult sounds in a natural way, which facilitates the language learning process. Humming a song or singing on syllables, such as "Lalalaa" is not difficult and it can also be the start of a song and then recall the text of the song. A song that we haven’t sung for a long time can be quiet with the Start chorus or at the end of the song. And what joy, it can be called up again as a whole. For children, an age-appropriate text is important when singing. In addition to new songs, we also like to sing traditional songs with children. Sometimes there are questions about the text that need to be discussed. In any case, songs will expand vocabulary.

All children like songs! Even very young children say it when they want to hear a song "nohmal" (again). Before they can speak, they show by clapping their hands that they want to sing "Backe ,backe Kuchen" again. Adults can give them the joy of singing by responding to them, even if they find it a bit too monotonous – the same song again …? Yes, and the most important thing is always joy: Singing is a lively, happy process that creates a good mood. It is unimportant whether inexperienced singers hit the right melody exactly, although that will also come with the practice. Singing significantly improves your own voice towards optimistic happiness.

I personally value songs with which we praise God or strengthen our faith. There are very happy and deliberate ones. Songs can sometimes comfort well and express security in the faith. Even children and very old people understand that, even demented people. I just read it again that people with Alzheimer’s, who can no longer feel at home anywhere, either with people they were familiar with or in an environment they were familiar with earlier, can not get through this common Sing songs and feel at home.

There are many reasons for singing, whether alone or together with others, it always increases our joie de vivre. One sings in the shower or in the car, others sing with all of us in worship or in a choir. I like to sing in the sparrow choir and a lot in the family center. And by the way, I always have my voice with me everywhere.
