SKI VACATION WITH CHILDREN – FAMILY VACATION INCL.

Ski holidays with children and the whole family!

Winter is just around the corner and many people are drawn to the mountains for a skiing holiday. Especially for families with children, a winter holiday together is a great thing. Skiing and snowboarding together, making the slopes unsafe, snowball fights, enjoying the great view and the delicious food in one of the many ski huts or exploring the snow-covered winter landscape on a hike – skiing with your loved ones on a family ski holiday is fun for everyone.

Ski holidays with children – What you should keep in mind

When skiing with children, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make your winter holiday perfect. Both the choice of the right ski resort, i.e. which ski resort is suitable for ski holidays with children, and a family-friendly accommodation are important.

Accommodation for ski holidays with children

Many hotels and hostels offer services specifically designed for families. Separate rooms with a connecting door, for example, are very suitable for parents with small children. In addition, it makes sense to find accommodation with suitable childcare, so that you as parents can be relieved a little during your skiing holiday. In the event that the weather does not play along and skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing outdoors is not possible, a hotel with child-friendly leisure facilities (e.g. swimming pool and playgrounds where the children can play and romp) is an advantage to avoid boredom. It is ideal if trained professionals or experienced carers take care of the holiday children during the day and offer a colourful entertainment programme for the smallest hotel guests. Then you as parents can sit back and relax and enjoy the days of your skiing holiday in peace, because you know that your children are in good hands.

Ski pass and ski school for ski holidays with children

Even if most children are real natural skiers or snowboarders, it is still important that they learn a few basic things about skiing and how to behave on the slopes. This is best done in a group with children of the same age. Special children’s ski schools with qualified ski instructors ensure that the little ones are safe on the slopes and that their parents can also enjoy the slopes and descents without having to worry about their children. Such ski courses are usually offered from the age of three, where the participants first learn the basic movements on skis and the correct behaviour in the snow in a playful way. Later, the course content is expanded to include curving, smaller jumps in the snow park and training for one’s own dexterity. By the way, children pay a significantly reduced price for a ski pass in most ski resorts. In some ski resorts, children can even use the slopes completely free of charge. When planning a ski holiday with children, families should therefore also keep an eye on the prices for the ski pass in order to save money through a cheap ski resort at the destination.

Leisure fun in the family ski vacation in the ski area

For a successful family holiday, a well-balanced leisure programme away from the pistes is also of great importance. Swimming, horseback riding, tennis, football, badminton or table tennis, excursions to the toboggan run or the ice rink, visits to cinemas and museums or sightseeing are some of the things you can do with your loved ones. Evenings spent together playing games are a nice idea. In some ski resorts you can also enjoy the snow off the slopes during a family holiday and enjoy very special experiences at the same time. These include, for example, comfortable carriage rides through the snowy landscape, a fast ride on a dog sled and numerous fun sports that have developed around the snow. It would be ideal if you were to select a few leisure activities in the vicinity of your ski accommodation before your journey, so that you can choose between various options on the spot to experience eventful days on a skiing holiday with your family.

Ski equipment for children on ski holidays: buy or rent?

If children are already at an age where, for example, they can learn to ski in the ski school, then ski equipment is needed. It should of course be of high quality and fit exactly to the size of your child. Since children grow quickly and ski equipment can usually no longer be used in the next season, it makes sense to rent it at the holiday resort. Ski rental can be found in almost every ski resort and the range usually includes skis and equipment for children of different ages. At least the skis or the snowboard and the ski boots can be rented here for the duration of your skiing holiday with your family. A ski helmet, on the other hand, can be worn for many years and is definitely part of the basic equipment. Warm ski clothing and ski goggles to protect the eyes round off the ski equipment of the little ski holidaymakers. If you follow these basic tips, nothing stands in the way of a relaxed and restful skiing holiday with children in the snow.
