Software for 3D imaging, Planmeca Romexis

The Planmeca Romexis® software platform offers versatile and intuitive tools for different doctors and specialties. They help dental clinics of all types to realize their full potential and ensure the best possible treatment. The Romexis 3D software module supports all types of 3D imaging.

Software for all 3D images

The Romexis 3D software module is an excellent choice for all dental 3D imaging applications, as it allows users to manage DVT images, surface models, 3D photos and even 4D jaw motion recordings in one user interface. The module is ideal for optimized and fast image viewing and provides all the necessary tools for advanced treatment plans and analysis.

For all requirements and specialist areas

The Romexis 3D module meets all user needs by providing advanced 3D imaging tools designed specifically for various specialties and areas of dentistry – such as orthodontics, prosthetics, implantology, endodontics, oral surgery and general dentistry.

Powerful 3D diagnostic tools

The 3D rendering view of the Romexis software provides an instant overview of the patient’s anatomy and is an excellent tool for patient education. The view allows you to instantly view images in different projections or convert the images into panoramic images and cross-sectional layers. The software’s measurement and annotation tools – such as the mandibular nerve marking function – also contribute to safe and precise treatment planning.

Intelligent tooth segmentation

Romexis offers a comprehensive tool for segmenting volumetric DVT data. The entire 3D image can be converted into an STL model. Single teeth, upper and lower jaw, airways, sinuses and roots can be segmented, stored and exported as STL files for further orthodontic or prosthetic planning and 3D printing.

Efficient airway analysis

The airways are segmented in Romexis with a few simple clicks. The software automatically calculates the volume and minimum range and visualizes the patient’s airways with bright colors. Our Planmeca Ultra Low Dose™ DVT imaging protocol is also the best choice for airway examination as it allows a significant reduction in patient dose without statistically compromising diagnostic image quality.

3D history photo

With the Romexis 3D module, you can visualize and analyze 3D photos – taken either with the Planmeca ProFace® photo option (available for all Planmeca DVT imaging units) or imported from other sources in standard OBJ file format. The photos can be overlaid with the DVT images and digital impressions in the 3D virtual patient creation software – perfect for before-and-after comparisons, treatment simulations and patient education.

Orthodontic diagnoses

DVT images are ideal for orthodontic diagnoses and Romexis software makes it easy to analyze skeletal symmetry, detect retinal and supernumerary tooth positions, and accurately identify root resorption and alignment. The software can also create cephalometric images and panoramic views from DVT images for cephalometric analysis.

TMG Views

TMJ pain (TMG) affects a significant portion of the population. Planmeca Romexis offers views that have been developed specifically for the investigation and analysis of TMG complaints. Both temporomandibular joints of a patient can be evaluated simultaneously in the software with precise measurements.

Overlay of DVT recordings

With the Planmeca Romexis 3D module, you can flexibly overlay two DVT images. This facilitates before and after comparisons and can also be used, for example, for follow-up examinations during orthognathic operations or orthodontic treatments.

Tools for endodontics

All our 3D imaging units feature a special high-resolution mode with 75 µm voxel size, specially designed for endodontic imaging. Combined with the superior visualization capabilities of the Romexis software, this mode is ideal for endodontic diagnosis and patient education. Root canals, traumas, root fractures and root resorptions can be easily evaluated – enabling accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.

Open and compatible

Any type of 3D data in a standard file format can be imported into Romexis or exported from Romexis. The software also allows volumetric DICOM data to be converted to a surface model and exported as an STL file. You can export STL models (such as scans, crowns, abutments, airways and nerves) either as a file or individually. The 3D module also integrates with third-party software and laboratory portals and services, allowing you to launch and export your data with a single click.

Simple exchange of results

Converting DVT studies into multi-page prints is quick and easy, and they can be shared with the free Planmeca Romexis® Viewer application for Windows and Mac. . The cases can also be easily sent to mobile devices and viewed with the Planmeca mRomexis™Bildgebungs app for iOS and Android. The Planmeca Romexis® Cloud image transfer service makes it easy to exchange cases with partner clinics.

Your 3D module – extended

The Romexis 3D module can be seamlessly expanded into a complete treatment planning software that supports implant planning and orthognathic implant planning. With the complete implant workflow, you can also design drilling templates for implant placement and splints for orthognathic surgery.
