The SOS daycare center Rappelkiste was part of the SOS Children’s Village in 1995 Sauerland emerged. In 2007 the concept of the daycare center was extended to a family center. At a time when life situations are changing more and more, the imparting of convincing values is becoming increasingly important. In our view, respect and tolerance for the protection of the individuality of each individual, solidarity-based behavior and an eye for the neighbor for the good of the community, democratic and political awareness for the protection of a human society are particularly important. Target group The SOS day care and family center offers 20 full-day places (only group form 1c, 45 hours!)for children aged two to six years. The offer is aimed in particular at families from the catchment area of the Lüdenscheid-Dickenberg district. The social and family situation of the children is taken into account when allocating the places. Objectives Children have the right to education. You are equipped with competencies right from the start. The children in our day care center are given the opportunity to discover themselves and their world through professional, educational action and the loving support of the daycare staff.

Cooperation with parents

Our facility sees itself as a living space and meeting place for children and parents. It offers the opportunity to meet informally, to exchange ideas and to support. For the good of the child it is important that Parents and Educator/Inside work in partnership. The parents are the main responsible caregivers for their child. As specialist staff, we provide advice to parents. If the cooperation succeeds in mutual openness, tolerance and acceptance, this has a positive effect on the development of the child.

Together with our cooperation partners, the SOS day care center and family center offers numerous offers for families, children and young people. We work according to the model: "Everything under one roof." With this model, all support and counseling services for families beyond childcare in the daycare center are offered under the roof of the SOS Children’s Village. This enables a reliable and professional concept for everyone. Open offers such as family counseling, family education and educational counseling take place on the premises of the SOS Children’s Village.

Employees and framework conditions

Educators and interns work in the pedagogical area. Our professional standard is supported and updated through regular supervision, participation in further and advanced training and integration into a quality assurance process. There is also the offer of specialist advice from the specialist service (qualified curative educator, qualified social worker) from the SOS Children’s Village and from the Joint Welfare Association.
