Go to content:
Brittany has long since stopped believing in witches. But since she got too close to the dark house of the hunched Mrs. Marder, nothing stays the same. strange Shape chase them in the dark. And then there are screams that make Brittany’s blood freeze .

Cover:
The cover is designed to match the Fear Street series. In addition to the typical black book cover and the red lettering of Fear Street, the word Geisterstunde points to the content:

Cover:
The cover is designed to match the Fear Street series. In addition to the typical black book cover and the red lettering of Fear Street, the word Geisterstunde refers to the scary story variant of the series – which is not about murdering teenagers, but about uncanny encounters in Shadyside. In keeping with the title and the History can be seen in the main part of the cover of an old house that almost resembles a haunted house. I find that very coherent.

Own impression:
Brittany hates card games. Not only does her little brother always have to annoy her with stupid card tricks, no, after messing around with her friends at school, she is made to visit the new classmate in the afternoons because he is still ill, to find his way, however. But here, too, Brittany has to play card games to her displeasure.
When the friends make their way to their new classmate Max, who lives on Fear Street, they find that they are late. The only shortcut in the area is the way through Mrs. Marders garden, which is feared by everyone only as a witch. In the good belief that nothing will happen, the friends take the shortcut and promptly run into the unfriendly Mrs. Marder. When they flee, something in the garden is destroyed and Mrs. Marder swears that she will pay the thing back to her friends. From then on, strange things happen around Brittany and her friends when they play cards. Soon they are sure that Mrs. Marder – the witch – is behind it. When the friends are in great danger, Brittany has to come up with something.

Like most of R.L. Stine, this book is a novel for young readers. With simple sentences but sufficient details, the author knows how to captivate and take you straight into the story. As in all of his novels, the books are divided into quite short and therefore very pleasant chapters. These usually end in an exciting or scary situation, so you have to read on if you want to know how the situation resolves. At the beginning, these are mostly misunderstandings that make the protagonist startled or upset. Only later in the story do mysterious things happen that scare the reader.
What I found very coherent and above all creepy were the jokers which were really well described and really, really scary. The trail that the children follow is also explained logically, but it definitely does not end as you might think as a reader. That is very clever.

characters:
Brittany is actually quite grown up for me. She knows that she and her friends screwed up and that the punishment is justified. From time to time she has typical girlish attitudes, but nevertheless she is always the one who seems to think before doing something – even if she takes every little pill that you can take with you afterwards. Brittany is also a very good friend because she cares about her friends when they are more and more at risk. She is also smart, you can tell by the fact that she is trying to solve the riddle of the verses and the cards.

Conclusion:
You can read the book. It’s fun and is perfect for in between when you’re an adult reader. For kids, the book is probably top notch. Above all, it can be divided nicely.
