Our market overview is based on a comprehensive and balanced market comparison in which virtually all broker insurers in Germany have been included. There are more than 50 private health insurance companies in Germany, each of which offers about 1-3 different tariffs for supplementary dental insurance, often even more. In addition there are co-operation tariffs of the legal health insurance. That the entire market certainly includes several hundred fares with dental services.

The space on a DIN A4 page is unfortunately limited, so we had to restrict ourselves to a certain selection of tariffs and comparison criteria. Understandably, therefore, only a small part of all dental supplements offered can be taken into account on this overview.

Plastic fillings

Indicated here is in each case the percentage tariff performance including advance payments of the statutory health insurance. With the tariffs of the signal Iduna no advance performance of the GKV is considered (this is marked with the added “+” accordingly in the table)

root canal treatment

Specified here is the percentage rate for a medically necessary root canal treatment, which can not be billed under the statutory health insurance regulations.

The settlement of additional costs in the context of a cash treatment is explicitly not included in this credit point.

periodontal Treatment

Specified here is the percentage tariff for a medically necessary periodontal treatment, which can not be billed under the statutory health insurance regulations.

power rating

The performance rating includes 5 stars, which are to symbolize the performance of the individual rates in the near future. The number of stars is primarily determined by the amount of dental prostheses (inlays and implants); but also the range of services “dental treatment and prophylaxis” has a positive effect on the number of stars, if comprehensive services are included here.

Requirement for:

5 Stars

Denture performance between 81 and 100%

4 stars

Denture performance between 76 and 80%

3 stars

Dentures between 50 and 75%

2 stars

Dentures between 30 and 49%

1 star

Dental replacement between 0 and 29%

If the tariff additionally provides at least 50% in at least two additional service areas of the “dental treatment and prophylaxis” sub-heading, the tariff will receive an additional star (maximum 5 in total) for the comprehensive additional services.

Orthodontics KIG 2

Specified here is the percentage rate for a medically necessary orthodontic treatment, which can not be settled within the statutory health insurance regulations.

Orthodontics KIG 3-5

Indicated here is in each case the percentage tariff benefit for the private additional costs of an orthodontic treatment charged under the provisions of the GKV.

inlays

Indicated here is in each case the percentage tariff performance including advance payments of the statutory health insurance. The tariffs of the Signal-Iduna, and the DKV do not include any advance payment of the SHI (this is indicated in the table with the added “+”)

Professional tooth cleaning

Indicated here is in each case the percentage tariff performance for a professional tooth cleaning in children.

fissure sealing

Indicated here is in each case the percentage tariff performance for the fissure seal of the “small” molars (4 and 5), which is usually not taken over by the statutory health insurance.

power rating

The performance rating includes 5 stars, which are to symbolize the performance of the individual rates in the near future. The number of stars is determined primarily by the amount of orthodontic services; but also the range of services “Inlays and Dental Treatment” has a positive effect on the number of stars, if comprehensive services are included here.

Requirement for:

5 Stars

Benefits for orthodontics as well as in KIG 2 and in KIG 3-5 at least 75%

4 stars

Benefits for orthodontics as well as in KIG 2 and in KIG 3-5 between 50 and 74%

3 stars

Services for orthodontics only in one of the two areas (KIG 2 or KIG 3-5) i.H. at least 30%

2 stars

Benefits for orthodontics only in one of the two areas (KIG 2 or KIG 3-5) below 30%

1 star

No services for orthodontics

If the tariff additionally provides at least 50% in at least two additional service areas of the “inlays and dental treatment” sub-heading, the tariff will receive an additional star (maximum 5 in total) for the comprehensive additional services.
