Guided nature experience Hike with breakfast

Every 2nd Sunday of the month we offer a guided nature walk with a rich breakfast in the restaurant. We meet for the walk in the restaurant Geierlay and start the day with a rich regional breakfast.

The hike leads over the Geierlay – with 360 m the Geierlay is one of the longest hanging rope bridges in Europe and the most beautiful hanging rope bridge in Germany. We continue hiking over the Saar-Hunsrück Climb, which runs directly under the bridge. It leads through charming valleys and offers wonderful views. The hike ends again at the Geierlay Visitor Centre.

Restoration in the Visitor Centre

Relax after your hike at the warm wood stove and enjoy regional cuisine. Built with a lot of natural materials, the visitor centre is the modern version of the “good living room” in Mörsdorf.

At the information point (glass box) on the parking lot of the visitor centre you will find lots of information about the Kastellaun holiday region, e.g. about the dream loops, the Saar-Hunsrück Climb, accommodation options, leisure tips for guests and much more.

The information point is open from 01 May 2017 on Mondays and Wednesdays to Sundays and on public holidays from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Tuesday is rest day. The staff are available to answer all your questions about the Geierlay hanging rope bridge and the Kastellaun holiday region. Opening hours Free and open to the public at all times. In case of extreme weather conditions (e.g. hurricane, strong thunderstorm) a temporary closure is possible.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Entering the bridge is at your own risk! The footpath is only 85 cm wide, so prams should be much narrower than 85 cm to allow oncoming pedestrians to pass. Bicycles must be pushed over the bridge, dogs must be leashed.

According to static calculations, the bridge can withstand wind speeds of over 200 km/h. The wind guy ropes ensure a stable position, so it hardly wobbles.
