Children at the dentist

Healthy children’s teeth

0 – 2 years: milk teeth
A baby has 20 teeth before birth, which are still hidden in the jaw. The first tooth appears around the sixth month of life. When the child is three years old, there are usually all 20 teeth.

6 to 8 years: changing teeth
The first wobbly tooth is an unmistakable signal: the milk teeth are displaced by the permanent teeth.

The breakthrough of the first large molars is usually unremarkable because they grow behind the row of milk teeth and do not have to throw out a predecessor. If all molars are broken, a visit to the dentist is recommended: he can Dimples (fissures) seal in the occlusal surfaces with a thin plastic layer – it protects against caries. The fissure sealing can take advantage of statutory insured patients between the ages of 6 and 17 free of charge.
