Adventure vacation with children in Germany – Franconia
Chrissi invited me to the FP Family Camp Franconia to experience a day of adventure vacation and camp feeling with children.
Where is the Franken family camp??
Getting to the Franken family camp is very easy. The family camp is located on the campsite in Hohenstadt directly on the river Pegnitz and is located about 40 km east of Nuremberg in Hersbruck Switzerland.
The popular holiday region in Germany is also called Frankenalb or Hersbrucker Alb.
The FP family camp at the Hohenstadt campsite
I park my car in front of the campsite in Hohenstadt Pegnitz, take my backpack and go into the driveway. It’s half past seven, the sun is slowly rising over the trees and the only thing you can hear are the songbirds chirping cheerfully. I was supposed to meet with Johanna and Christopher, the two camp leaders, at three-quarter to eight. There is still time, so I walk to the campsite and look around. Everyone seems to be still asleep, the Hohenstadt Pegnitz campsite is well attended but no one is very wide. The license plates of the cars tell me that holidaymakers come from a wide variety of German states, but holidaymakers from neighboring European countries are also represented.
Between the Ortler and the spectacular crenellations of the Dolomites, wild mountain landscapes with exciting gorges and waterfalls beckon. We present 4 adventure hikes in South Tyrol that impress children and adults alike.
1. To the earth pyramids of Terento
Mill and panorama trail in the Puster Valley: The hike leads from Terento mostly along the Terentner stream to the earth pyramids. The brook rises on the 2,700 m high lizard peak, the "Hegedex", as it is called by the locals. The energy of the stream was used early on to drive the mills from the region. All in all a rewarding hike that has a lot of potential for children to discover.
