What to see in Bilbao

10. Visit to the Guggenheim Museum

(Abandoibarra Etorbidea 2, 48009 Bilbao, +34 94 435 90 00) This futuristic-looking museum that exhibits modern art is one of the symbols of Bilbao. The area around it has also been completely redesigned and today even sports competitions such as Red Bull’s adrenaline-fueled cliff jumping take place (you can get an impression in the video below!). The entrance to the museum is guarded by the giant dog sculpture "Puppy", which is made entirely of flowers. Gigantism reflects the humor of the people of Bilbao, who are said to like to exaggerate.

Regardless of its name, you can not only have a good dinner in the "Vesper", but also brunch. Large groups in particular should keep an eye on the restaurant because it offers an extra room that can accommodate up to 60 people. The wide sun terrace pays off especially in summer – in the midst of the hustle and bustle on the lively Osterstraße, you would prefer to sit on the wide sidewalk all day and drink coffee. The large and varied buffet includes delicacies such as various antipasti, roast beef, Sunday roast or goulash with side dishes, pizza, Kaiserschmarrn and orange curd. From April onwards, gourmets can look forward to numerous variations of white or green stick vegetables during the asparagus season.

Unfortunately, these prejudices about Berlin are true

Postdam is just around the corner from Berlin and yet only the tourists and some students often come over. Yes, the city lives very dignified, but has much more to offer than just Sanssouci Palace. Which 11 great things you can still do there, you can read here. Here you go!

Barberini Museum © Helge Mundt Watch art in the Barberini Museum

We are big fans of Potsdam: Life weighs a ton more easily between villas and speed boats. Since January 2017 there has been one more reason to jump to the next region, when the Museum Barberini opened in the Palazzo Barberini, built in the 18th century (inspired by the Palazzo of the same name in Rome). It started with an exhibition of Impressionist works from Claude Monet to Gustave Caillebotte. Parents of babies between 0 and 1 year are also welcome here. The museum offers extra tours for them once a week.

11 things you can always do in Frankfurt am Main

Unfortunately, these prejudices about Berlin are true

ECB, heroin, commuters – so far the Frankfurt clichés. But 069 can do a whole lot more. For some years now, Frankfurt has been experiencing something of a small renaissance – and the New York Times has also noticed this and in 2014 ranked the city among its 52 top travel tips. Why? Probably because everything on the Main is a bit more relaxed. If you’re not working in a bank, at least. Where else do Hafti, de Babba Sven Väth and Goethe go so well together? The small cosmopolitan city on the Main has space for everyone. Promised.

© Julia Harmgardt Take the train with a view of the harbor: U3 Bäumenall

By far the most beautiful train route in Hamburg is the U3. We drive from the hill over the jetties to the tree wall. When the U3 comes out of the tunnel just before the port, you have a wonderful view of the jetties. Then it goes past the Rickmer Rickmers, the Cap San Diego, the Lion King tent and the fish stalls on the Elbe promenade. Cranes, huge tankers and cruise ships everywhere, there is a lot to look at. The boys are excited and so am I. That is pure Hamburg feeling. We drive to the tree wall. Then we get on the bus.

With my child’s eyes. 8 things we can learn from children

Children are full of courage, curiosity and tolerance – great qualities that we sometimes get lost in old age. It’s a good thing that we can learn from our little ones to see the world through their eyes.

Let yourself be infected by the lightness of your children!

For our little ones, life is a huge adventure playground. While we dream of being able to sleep in on a Sunday, it cannot go on a journey of discovery early enough for them. Everything new arouses their curiosity, they want to climb the highest obstacles and preferably just play for hours.
