1. smart EQ fortwo and smart EQ fortwo cabrio
The smart EQ fortwo and its roofless colleague, the smart EQ fortwo cabrio, take first place in the rankings. What both have in common – apart from the fact, of course, that they are identical cars, only in the one version with a practical folding roof? They are both literally under power and are the absolute top sellers in terms of insurance classes!
These two small cars are the only ones to make it into insurance class 11 for fully comprehensive insurance, and they are more suitable than any others as thoroughbred city cars for operation in conurbations. Note, however, that this classification applies only to the standard equipment in conjunction with the 82 hp engine.
with a length of 2.70 meters, there should always be a parking space for this city car in town. In summer, the folding roof of the smart EQ fortwo cabrio is an absolute guarantee for wind in your face, sun on your head and good spirits in the two-seater cabin.
2. Dacia sandero
Romania or france, dacia or renault – no one really knows, because the sandero has a lot of (older) renault technology under the hood, which in turn is adorned with the brand logo of the Romanian carmaker. But what everyone should know is that the dacia sandero is a cheap car, even the cheapest new car in germany!
If you want to insure the sandero as cheaply as possible, it’s best to choose the entry-level sce 65 gasoline engine and the comfort equipment line. The engine does not necessarily make driving a pleasure, because with a meager 67 hp and a maximum torque at 3600 rpm, it is probably not possible to pull out any trees in terms of driving technology. But the equipment details in the dacia sandero comfort are delightful: compared to the basic version, the small car comes in the top variant with an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, air conditioning, rain sensor and electrically folding and heated (!) exterior mirrors.

With the electric motor R135 you can go 386 km according to WLTP, of course without CO2 emissions. Electric is just not only trend, but also environmentally friendly. the combination of this battery and the intens equipment line not only offers an attractive insurance rating, but also an extensive range of gimmicks such as lane departure warning, blind spot warning and a rear view camera. Anyone who looks around here for the wagon will say: who can resist?

4. Opel corsa-e
Well, confused? And rightly so, because opel’s naming is discreetly misleading. The opel corsa-e, the all-electric variant of the opel corsa F, is not to be confused with the opel corsa E, the predecessor model of the opel corsa F. Understood? Now that all potential misunderstandings have been cleared away, the corsa-e has enough space to unfold and concentrate on what it does really well: namely looking good and being 100% electric on the road.
The battery under the hood gives drivers a range of up to 337 km. The elegance equipment line, which is particularly suitable for insurance-saving foxes, also features a host of infotainment and safety gadgets such as drowsiness detection, power windows with rear anti-trap protection and much more. This is a comfortable way to travel and, above all, one that’s affordable from an insurance standpoint!

What is fully comprehensive?
In addition to partially comprehensive and third party liability insurance, fully comprehensive insurance is one of the insurance models that drivers:inside can choose when insuring their car. While third party liability and partially comprehensive insurance only cover certain types of damage, fully comprehensive insurance can be described as an all-round carefree package. The fully comprehensive insurance covers not only the damage included in the partially comprehensive insurance, but also damage to your own vehicle.
For more information on the different types of car insurance, please see our insurance guide for new cars.
How is the insurance class determined?
When determining the type class of a vehicle, several factors play a role. This includes the vehicle class, because whether you drive a small car or an SUV should not be insignificant with regard to the insurance premium. In addition, the accident statistics and the related repair costs per year and vehicle are taken into account when calculating the insurance class.
In other words, the fewer accidents a certain model has been involved in, the smaller the type class that is subsequently calculated. Conversely, this means that a vehicle model with a lot of accident damage and high repair costs will receive a higher rating. This is how the classification of the individual vehicles is calculated each year anew. As a rule, this is done by GDV, the general association of the german insurance industry.
How much does fully comprehensive insurance cost??
How much fully comprehensive insurance costs, you can usually ask the insurer of your choice. Most insurance companies offer online calculators that can be used to determine the individual insurance premium. It’s not just the insurance class of the vehicle that matters.
The length of time a driver has held a driver’s license and the so-called no-claims class are also decisive here. Since it is assumed that younger drivers are more likely to be involved in an accident due to a lack of driving experience, insurance for novice drivers costs significantly more. The longer a person remains accident-free, the higher he or she climbs in the no-claims class ranking and the lower the insurance premiums.
For young drivers, however, it is possible to take out car insurance through their parents by registering the vehicle as a second car and thus obtaining a much more favorable rating. So: if you want to save on insurance, you need to remember the phrase "keep your eyes open in traffic" or simply have parents with a high no-claims bonus class!
