The pearl cross – way of the cross for children on good friday 2013 – kirchspiel-odershausen’s jimdo-page!

Probably due to the weather, only 20 children and about as many adults came to the Children’s Crossing Path through Braunau on Good Friday this year. A black cross, which each child had received and which was adorned with a different colored pearl in six special places in the village, led through the story of the last hours in the life of Jesus.

Again, short scenes from the last hours of Jesus were read in distributed roles at various suitable places in the village. The children then framed the carried cross with boxwood branches and pieces of fabric, with stones, with flowers, with pieces of rope, with snow (= water) and finally in the church in front of the altarpiece with the crucifixion with candles.

There were already some people gathered for prayer at the hour of Jesus’ death, who were thus taken into the Way of the Cross. Since the cross was removed and taken away each time, the borders, some of which were still until Easter, especially nice.

"The passion flower" – Children’s Way of the Cross on Good Friday 2012

On Good Friday, more than thirty children were accompanied by about as many adults on the children’s crossroads through Braunau. A “passion flower”, which each child had received and which was unfolded sheet by sheet in six special places in the village, led through the story of the last hours in the life of Jesus. At the stations, the stories depicted on the flower were presented by Kathleen, Elisa and Astrid Unzicker, Claudia Gier, Bianca Mrzyglod and pastor Andreas Schütz framed matching things. So shadows of the cross remained:

in front of the portal of the church made of pieces of fabric to commemorate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem,

at the village café "Braunauer Land" made of stones in memory of the last supper,

at the parish hall of the Free Evangelical Church made of flowers in memory of Jesus’ prayer in the Gethsemane garden,

at the football field made of ropes to commemorate the betrayal and the arrest

and on the Wälzebach stream of water in memory of Pontius Pilate’s hand washing and the tears that were shed because of Jesus’ death.

The end of the Way of the Cross was back at the church, where the "passion flower" was fully unfolded and turned into the daffodil. The Way of the Cross ended with a common song, the Lord’s Prayer and the blessing. The children were allowed to take the transformed "passion flowers" with them and some of them stopped on the way home again at the places where the cross could be seen.
