The open-air cinema on the Rathausmarkt is one of the longest-serving, most popular and most visited open-air festivals of its kind in the Hanseatic city. It is organized by the Metropolis Kino in cooperation with the Authority for Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and takes place every year in June and July. Then the Rathausmarkt is transformed into a cinema hall for a total of 10 days, in which cineastes can enjoy a large selection of films of all genres under the open sky every evening. The live concerts begin on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and last until midnight. On Saturday the live concerts last from 1 p.m. to midnight and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m..
