Tricks: legally control maximum savings

Save introduction about taxes

You shouldn’t be a skilled professional to get your money back from the tax office to get. Every taxpayer can legally save taxes. As a taxable employee, you must submit your tax return by May 31, if you do not on the Support of a tax advisor.

There are legal ways to save money. With the tax return, you get back overpaid taxes on average over € 800. The actual reimbursement naturally depends on the individual case.

Tax tips for craftsman services

The tax reduction for using household services of 20% is only available if you have received an invoice. As a taxpayer, you benefit when you hire craftsmen and service providers. Deductible are wages, travel and machine costs, but not material costs.

Tip 1: Self-employed craftsmen can determine their income using the income surplus calculation. The deduction amounts are up to € 1200. Tenants and homeowners can benefit. In total, craftsman services of up to € 6000 are favored.

It should be noted that self-employed craftsmen who do not employ employees who are subject to social security contributions are subject to the pension insurance obligation.

Tip 2: In principle, up to 20% of expenses are recognized for household-related services (maximum of € 4,000 per year). For household-related services such as gardening or childcare, the maximum deduction amount even increases to € 4,000.

In total, expenses of up to € 20,000 are favored. For example, if you pay € 600 for sweeping the sidewalk or shoveling snow in front of the house, the tax bonus can save up to € 120 in taxes.

tipp3: Craftsman services include: renovation, modernization or expansion work on your house or rental property. Deductible expenses: € 6,000. Tax refund: 20% of the costs, maximum 1200 €.

As a taxpayer, you are not obliged to attach the service provider’s invoices and bank account statement to the tax return. The documents only have to be submitted to the tax office on request. However, cash payments remain taboo.

Tax tips to commute to work

A detour becomes job recognized if the route is more convenient. Carpool users or company car drivers can also claim their travel expenses.
Taxpayers can deduct a flat rate of 30 cents per kilometer for the distance between home and work.

In principle, the tax office accepts travel expenses up to a maximum of 4500 euros. This maximum deduction of € 4,500 per calendar year does not apply if you drive to work in your own car (or company car). As proof, commuters should document the mileage at the beginning and end of the year.

Tax tips for married couple

After a wedding, couples can generally take advantage of the splitting rate as "more advantageous". The effect of the splitting tariff shows that the couple have to pay less than half income tax for the same income.

Both of them then submit a tax return together and of course receive the corresponding "doubles" for all available flat rates or maximum amounts. Since the income of both is rated as "one" income with "double" advantages, it is particularly worthwhile if both have very different incomes. However, if both receive roughly the same income, the tax benefit goes to zero.

Tax tips for business trips

As a company boss, you can deduct your business trips from tax. In principle, the distance flat rate applies to journeys between home and the first place of work. The actual costs or the flat rate kilometer rates can be used for further journeys.

For other professional trips you can (if your boss does not reimburse the expenses) deduct 30 cents per kilometer. However, if you take other colleagues with you in the car, you can claim an additional two cents per person.
