When does which U-examination take place? All events at a glance
There is a time window of several weeks for carrying out the U examinations, in which you can make an appointment with your child or your pediatrician yours Pediatrician can arrange:

U1 | This U-examination takes place immediately after the birth in the hospital, birth house or by the supervising home birth midwife |
U2 | 3rd to 10th day of life |
U3 | 4th to 6th week of life |
U4 | 3rd to 4th month of life |
U5 | 6th to 7th month of life |
U6 | 10th to 12th month of life |
U7 | 21st to 24th month of life |
U7a | 34th to 36th month of life |
U8 | 43rd to 48th month of life |
U9 | 60th to 64th month of life |
U10 | 7 to 8 years (voluntary, ask cost coverage from the health insurance) |
U11 | 9 to 10 years (voluntary, ask cost coverage from the health insurance) |
The U-examinations are followed by two youth examinations, the so-called J-examinations, whereby only one is automatically taken over by the health insurance companies:
Youth checkup | Period of implementation |
J1 | 12 to 14 years |
J2 | 16 to 17 years (voluntary, ask cost coverage from the health insurance) |
The preventive medical check-ups are not mandatory, but they are welcome. Therefore, you will also receive a reminder if you do not take part in the age-appropriate check-up with your child in the designated period of the implementation. After the respective check-up, your pediatrician will automatically report the examination to the health insurance company and the office.
