The famous quote from Winston Churchill
Is that correct?
Even if modern high-performance sports are anything but healthy even without doping – Winston Churchill should not be blamed for this excuse for lazy people. Even when asked what the secret of his old age is, he is credited with the recipe “No sports”. Both alleged quotations are not guaranteed and are highly unlikely (further quotes from Winston Churchill). In fact, Churchill was an active and successful athlete in his teens, something he was no longer able to look at in his old age and associated his character with what he said. However, the following quote is occupied: “No hour spent in the saddle is lost.” For Churchill was a passionate rider.
Urban legends
They are called apparent truths, which are heard again and again, but nevertheless not true are. Honestly, who has not spread the following statements themselves and thus contributed to their solidification?
- Churchill is said to have said, “Do not trust statistics that you did not fake yourself.” Funny thing is that this quote is unknown in England.
- Pigs were raised additional ribs to get more chops.
- Bulls become aggressive when they see red color. That’s why you should never go with red clothing on a bull pasture. Cattle probably can not distinguish colors.
- Luther is said to have said, “Why do not you belch and fart, did not it taste you?” Lazy excuse for bad behavior.
- “Oaks should you yield, Beech should you seek” should help in thunderstorms outdoors. Please do not try it, avoid all trees!
- A bunch puts their head in the sand in case of danger and thinks, one does not see it then. No animal is that stupid, because it has no chance to survive.
- In overpopulation, lemmings commit collective suicide by plunging from high cliffs into the sea.
- If you paint the whole body with paint, you suffocate. It was gold for James Bond. But Goldfinger would not have used it; the lady would at best sweat profusely.
- Hitler had the first German motorways built.
- Einstein was a very bad student and has stayed several times. (Dear disciple, if you prefer, refer to the above pictured Churchill, who actually got stuck twice, but later learned his education and even received the Nobel Prize in Literature.)
- Almost German would become the official language of the United States. At the vote it was defeated with only one vote difference to the English.
- For a smile you need 12 muscles, for a serious face 64.
- Regular shaving makes hair grow faster and denser.
Another story:
NASA allegedly developed a special pen called the Space Pen for $ 1 million, which works reliably in space under zero gravity conditions. While the Soviet Union used a pencil for the sake of simplicity.
The pen does exist and has been used by NASA, but it has not commissioned the development. The Soviet Union has used it and previously used grease pencils.
