What is the difference between year-old cars, young used cars and day-old cars??

Annual car, By definition, this is the term used for vehicles that are not older than 12 months. the age is calculated from the date of first registration and not from the actual date of production. Due to the time the car has been parked before it is first registered, a year-old car can be more than 12 months old. In some cases, dealers also list vehicles as "year-olds" that have been on the road for just over a year. Therefore, it is worth looking at the first registration to check how long the vehicle has actually been in operation.

Young used are vehicles that are usually no more than five years old. Therefore, they are no longer year-old cars, but they are relatively young on the used car market.

Daily registrations are also used cars in the legal sense, but in terms of condition they are more like new cars. This designation is given to vehicles that have only been registered for one day and have often not been moved. Since such a car officially has a previous owner, it is subsequently traded at a lower price. This makes it easier for dealers to reach their sales figures and receive attractive manufacturer bonuses – a win-win situation.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of used cars??

A used car brings with it many attractive advantages. The best argument for a used vehicle is the lower price.

They also offer a financial incentive in terms of depreciation, because this is where the greatest loss occurs when buying a new car. The value of a new car is considerably reduced from the time it is first registered, without it having been driven even one meter. In the first year, the depreciation is about 25 percent of the purchase price and then decreases steadily. After three years, it is around 35 percent.

Both used and stock vehicles are attractive because they are usually available immediately and, unlike vehicles on order, there is little or no waiting time.

The main disadvantage is the uncertainty as to how previous owners have handled the vehicle, whether it has been parked for a long time or only driven short distances. On carwow you will only find used car offers from authorized dealers. This means that the dealer has already thoroughly inspected the vehicle at the time of trade-in or lease return in order to minimize his own risk and thus yours as well.

In the case of used cars, you cannot configure the equipment individually or choose the color you want. on carwow you have the possibility to search for equipment lines, colors and other features.

Do I get a warranty on used cars??

When it comes to liability, a distinction can be made between the statutory warranty and a voluntary guarantee.

Warranty

In addition to the warranty, dealers can offer a warranty on their used cars voluntarily or for an additional charge, thereby extending the term or scope of the warranty.

In the case of daily registrations and year-old cars, you have the advantage that your vehicle usually still has various ongoing manufacturer’s warranties due to its young age. You can find an overview of the different types and terms in our article on new car warranties.

Warranty

In principle, all dealers are obliged to a warranty of 2 years. Sellers have the option to shorten this to one year, but cannot exclude it completely! Since you will find only commercial sellers on carwow, you will always get a warranty on your used car. the only exception: if you buy yourself as a trader, the seller may be able to contractually exclude a warranty, which is usually associated with a lower purchase price for you. in this case, be sure to include a clause to this effect in the purchase contract.

The warranty includes liability for material defects and thus typically includes damage to the engine or gearbox. This excludes wear parts or normal signs of use. As a purchaser, you also have the benefit of a reduction in the burden of proof: if damage occurs in the first 6 months after purchase, it is assumed that it was already present when the vehicle was delivered. The seller is therefore automatically liable, unless he proves otherwise. After these 6 months the burden of proof is reversed and you must prove that the defect existed at the time of purchase.
