absolutely unreliable functioning, April 5, 2009

Vivanco BM 440 ECO PLUS – Vivanco Orginal Babyfon – BM 440 ECO Plus, Ökotest very good (08/2006) We bought the baby monitor approx.2.5 years ago, because in the ÖKO-Test i.a. bez. Radiation did very well. We did not like the following points: 1. The device failed completely several times a month, and despite the loud shouting of our children, the receiver (max. 10m away) received no sound. 2. After 2 years, channel A gave up “its ghost” permanently (receiver lights up green, but sound transmission defective). The same thing happened 3 months later with channel B. 3. Noise transmission only starts with a delay of approx. 5 sec. 4. Very strong noise when transmitting noise. 5. Low battery life. For these reasons we now have the Angelcare AC 420 (also ÖKO-test very good and low radiation) in use and are absolutely satisfied with it.

Healthy listening at home, August 21, 2007

The baby monitor is optimal for use in the house if you don’t want to move too far from the baby. So that the radiation exposure is kept as low as possible, the range is of course not very large. Anyone who does not need a range of over 75m (straight line without obstacles) is well served. I recommend testing before first real use where you can receive anywhere can and where not. For us it works in the whole house, including in the basement, in the attic and in the garden.

Good idea, unfortunately, bad implementation …, January 17, 2009

We also bought the device due to its radiation properties and were initially very satisfied. However, after a few months the problems started: – Channel A was constantly rushing and beeping and sometimes not working at all – Channel B showed the same quirks after a few days after we switched there – since the device only has 2 channels, but very much with parents is popular, we constantly hear the children of our neighbors (3x the same device -> too few channels for everyone) – and we “only” live in a row house and I wonder how it would be in a residential area … With more channels and an indication whether the parent device is receiving a signal at all, that would certainly be a good one device.
