aims
The training to become a "state-recognized nanny" at the vocational school for childcare is designed to enable it to work in public and private institutions, especially as a secondary worker within the meaning of the Kindergarten Act, as well as in upbringing households, maintenance and taking care of children.
particularities
The school education takes place four days a week, the practical one day a week and two one or two week block internships per school year in day care centers for children.
The first half of the school year is a trial period.
duration
The training takes three years full-time and is divided into
- an education of two school years in the vocational school for child care (school education) and
- a job-related internship (professional internship) accompanied by the vocational school of one year in an institution that corresponds to the job description of the nanny, or in exceptional cases in a household with at least two children who are of pre-school age or still compulsory at primary school.

requirements
- A prerequisite for admission to the vocational school for child care is the graduation certificate of the secondary school or the year of entry into the profession or another graduation or transfer certificate obtained after the graduation from secondary school, whereby in the subject German at least the grade "satisfactory" and in Average of all subjects at least grade 3.0 must be achieved, or proof of an equivalent level of education and
- Written evidence of a Space for practical training in a facility that corresponds to the area of work of a nanny (usually a daycare facility for children up to six years).
In addition, sufficient proof of German language skills is required for proof of foreign education.
If, after admission of all applicants who meet the requirements of No. 1 and 2, not all of the places in the entry class have been filled, additional applicants may be admitted whose certificates meet the performance requirements of No. 1. Not fulfilled if the achievements shown in the certificate nevertheless lead to the expectation that the applicants will meet the requirements of the vocational school for child care.
admission process
The application for admission must be sent to the school secretariat. The date by which the application for admission must be received is the 1st March one year for admission to the coming school year. The admission date will be announced in the local press. There is a waiting list since there are usually more applications than there are school places available.
The following must be submitted for registration:
- fully completed application for membership,
- Curriculum vitae with information about previous education,
- certified copy or photocopy of the certificates according to the admission requirements, No. 1 and / or proof of an equivalent level of education,
- a statement as to whether and, if applicable, at which vocational school for child care the applicant has previously participated in an admission procedure,
- a declaration of whether and, if applicable, at which vocational school for child care the applicant has applied for this year and
- in the case of minors, the consent of the legal guardians.
Please submit certificates and all of the above official certificates only in the form of certified copies a, since a return of the application documents is not possible is.
