Step 1

First of all you have to prepare the walls by removing old wallpaper remnants and preparing the surface. This involves filling out cracks and unevenness and, if necessary, applying a deep foundation. This prevents the wallpaper from falling off the wall later.

The walls must be level and clean.

Old wallpaper is best removed first dry. If that does not work, you can use special solvents or steam removers.

Then you measure the premises to determine your material requirements. If you happen to have a mishap, you should count on more wallpaper and glue.

Important: Before starting work, switch off the fuses and remove the panels from the sockets and light switches.

To cover the floor, various materials, such as newsprint, old sheets, paint plans or cover fleece are suitable.

Step 2

Once all preparations have been made, you can install the wallpaper. Start in the brightest corner and align the tracks with the light.

Important: Ceilings are wallpapered in front of the walls. It’s best to do this work in pairs.

For the first wallpaper train, you should draw a straight line, which you can explore with a spirit level. You can align the following lanes with the first lane.

After you have touched the paste, you can cut and paste the first web. The glue then has to act for a few minutes before the web is applied to the wall.

For non-woven wallpaper you need special glue. Besides, you do not have to let it take effect.

The wallpaper is applied from the top and smoothed with a brush or a spatula. Everything that survives, remove with a craft knife. If the tracks overlap slightly, the wallpaper stroller is used.

There are certain problems with wallpapering. With a little skill, you can also master this.

  • Inside and outside corners: There are two methods here. Either you paper a few inches over the corner, with the next lane starting at the corner, so that the lanes overlap, or you cut the lane in the corner and separate the excess.
  • Sockets and light switches: These can be over-decorated first. Make yourself a pencil mark. After drying, the elements can be cut free again.
  • Radiator: The wallpaper should be brought as far behind the component as possible. As always, you work from top to bottom. The remaining wallpaper cut off.
  • Door frame: They start from the top and cut off excess material along the frame with the cutter knife.
  • Window niches: Here you combine the wallpapering techniques of door frames and corners. Measure out the niche inner surfaces well to cut appropriate wallpaper pieces.

Step 3

Finally, you just have to let the wallpaper dry. The ideal temperature for this is between 15 and 20 ° C.
