Amazing location, property and owners

Every part of this trip and property exceeded our expectations! Will definitely be back.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay! We would love to have you back again anytime !

Great stay

Had a great visit here. Property manager was friendly and responsive. Beautiful, secluded location.

Cell reception was poor and the WiFi at the home was sub-par. Connectivity was a challenge here, but otherwise a great stay.

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit!

Yes we are in a secluded area and cell reception is very spotty in most areas of Maine.

I would have been happy to call our internet provider if you were having problems during your stay.

Perfect Maine Getaway

The property was amazing. The house had everything we needed, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and games galore! The location was absolutely breathtaking, it was a perfect vacation.

Peaceful and relaxing

This was our fourth time staying here; we love it!

Thank you David! We love having you, please come back anytime!!

Charming > 4/5

This is a charming classic cape in the Maine woods. It was very well organized and supplied – the kitchen in particular, and homeowners are very responsive. This property is probably best for 4 -6 people as there is only one bathroom on the ground floor not by the bedrooms (if you have members in your group with mobility issues or who get up frequently). The sofa bed mattress in the TV room is thin and there are no shades on the family room windows – the main entry light remains on at night and the outdoor sensor lights go on frequently (night time porcupine visitors!) It is about 20 minutes to a Shaw’s grocery store, 30 minutes to restaurants in Wiscasset or Bath, and 40 minutes to the beach and tourist destinations like Booth Bay. Our dog enjoyed playing fetch in the large yard, it was nice watching the sunsets from the spacious family room, and grilling was a welcome dinner option. There are a couple of good hikes on the island – definitely a lot of ticks in long grassy areas. Please note the power seems to go out frequently on the island – three times during our week (not weather related), the longest 5 hours. There are lanterns and flashlights readily available as well as water in the basement to flush the toilet (The house has well water with an electric pump – so no water during power outage).

I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed your week in Maine.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the DUNN house.

Please know that homeowners spend an extensive amount of time writing descriptions and posting photos for potential guests to make the best choice for their vacation. Our home has three bedrooms with one queen and 4 twin beds and we have a pull out on the first floor library. This is all noted on my page along with the fact that the bathroom is on the first floor. We provide the pullout so guests have the option of having a couple of extra people stay with them and it is at an affordable price for 8 people. I have never found a pullout to be comfortable but for kids it’s always a good option. I have since replaced the mattress on the pull out with a very high quality, firm, Zinus memory foam mattress. We also have another cottage on our property which is fairly more accessible with a ramp and master bedroom on the first floor along with the bath and laundry.

I also mention that we are in a fairly remote area and that it is about 20 minutes to route 1. Many people love to get away but yet you can be in the mix of everything with a short drive.

In Maine power outages can be frequent but only last a few minutes since response time is very quick. During your stay a someone hit a pole on the island which took out the power for 5 hours, which I think is a pretty quick response time to replace a pole and get power back up. There were many people out of power off the island too. It is true we have a well pump but we provide emergency water for drinking and flushing in case it is for an extended amount of time. We have not had to use it yet!

I am quite responsive and if there was a problem with the security lights I could have changed the settings.

Again, thank you for staying at the Dunn house.
