When the little tiger hisses

looks to him. “Very funny,” it says insulted. “You are the fastest animal here. As if I could catch you! ”The little tiger looks at his friend defiantly. “Come on, at least try it. Catch me! ”The chameleon sticks out its long tongue. The little tiger has to laugh so that it plops into the water. Giggling, he climbs out and shakes that the drops are just flying. “Hey, do you want to take a bath with me?” He calls to the chameleon. But nanu? The chameleon has changed color and is hardly recognizable on the tree. The little tiger is amazed. It only does it when it gets dangerous. Or does it want to play hide and seek? Something dark appears in the water. “I”ll catch you right now, you baby,” the old crocodile grumbles at the little tiger. “Get out of here, you”re chasing me away!”

Startled, the little tiger jumps back onto the bank. He makes himself very small and clamps his yellow-black tail between his legs. “Yes, of course, sorry!” He says softly and slowly sneaks backwards into the thick jungle. There he lies down on a rotten tree trunk in the sun and waits for his friend.

“You should have hissed at the old curmudgeon,” says the chameleon, when it arrives after a while. “No, he”s a lot taller than me,” the tiger says sadly. “Somehow everyone is always much bigger than me.” He looks sadly at his little paw.
Then he hears a noise beneath him. It comes from the tree trunk. He sticks his tiger nose curiously into it. "Huhu!" He calls. "What can you think of, you stupid tiger cattle!" A green snake hisses from the trunk. The little tiger backs away anxiously and pulls his tail. "I didn"t do anything," he says. "You woke me up!" The snake hisses. "Make you get away!"

The tiger hastily runs deeper into the jungle. It only stops in the next clearing. "Don"t always run away," says the chameleon after seeing him at last caught up again. “Tigers are the kings here in the jungle. Nobody should annoy you! ”The little tiger sighs. "Nobody should annoy anyone at all," he says. Then a branch with leaves falls on his head. "Hahaha," it sounds from the trees. »Listen to that! King of the jungle! ”Three little monkeys swing through the branches. They screech and throw more branches until the little tiger has completely disappeared under leaves and branches. Only then do the monkeys scurry back into the dense leaf roofs. The chameleon creeps slowly to the little tiger under the pile of leaves. The tiger is very small in the dark, he has curled up his tail. "I"ll stay in here," the tiger decides. "It"s a good hiding place." "But no," says the chameleon. "Come out. You"re strong, little tiger. ”“ No, I"m not, ”whines the tiger. “You just don"t know. You have to make yourself big. Stand up straight. Keep a close eye on the animals and hiss at them. Tell them out loud if they treat you badly. Nobody can talk to you like that. Come on out, let"s practice it! ”The little tiger imagines how he grows up and hisses loudly. He likes that. He frees himself from the pile of leaves and hisses softly. "Good, keep it up!" Praises the chameleon. The tiger roars: "I am tall and strong!"

"No, you"re not!" Giggles from the treetops. The three monkeys have come back and drop to the ground in front of him. One of them pokes the tiger hard in the nose. That hurts! Now it’s enough for the little tiger. No matter whether he is stronger or not, now he tells them what they think! He stretches his head and makes himself as big as he can. Then he looks directly at the monkeys, takes a deep breath and hisses very loudly: "Chrrr!" The monkeys move in amazed. "Stop annoying me!" Says the tiger loudly. Then he turns, smiles proudly at his little green chameleon friend and slowly walks away with him. The monkeys are very quiet. They look at each other in astonishment. Then they disappear into the thicket.

"You did very well," says the chameleon. "I think so too," says the tiger. From then on he practices hissing every day. He hisses as loud as he can and practices looking strong and looking brave. He grows braver every day. And from day to day the other animals leave him more alone. "He"s gradually becoming a tiger," they whisper. Yes, the little tiger really feels like a tiger now. And he definitely won"t pull in the tail anymore!
