Digital systems in aesthetics

The Dutch dentist Joerd van der Meer gave an impressive outlook into the future of dentistry. On the other hand, Prof. dr. Bernd Wöstmann (University of Giessen, Germany) demonstrated what is already possible with the help of tools such as the intraoral scanner. Dr. Renaat De Clerck and Dr. David Norré from Belgium presents the so-called “Real Time Implantation”, an all-new method of navigated implantology, ie considering the biological and mechanical implications. Dr. Francis Coachman from Brazil introduced the concept of “Digital Smile Design”, which was originally developed by his and his brother. It is probably more than ever, rationally as well as emotionally. The remaining talks also focused on providing functional and highly aesthetic restorative solutions with the help of new digital techniques.

Greater Chinese involvement

It was the first time that the World Dental Forum took place in Beijing, after it had been held in the special administrative zones of Hong Kong and Macao in previous years. The reason for the change emanated from the strong wish to increase the involvement of Chinese dentists, as the WDF co-founder and CEO, Godfrey Ngai, explained. A participation of the Chinese outside of their own national territory had been so far been complicated. With the change to the new location, the number of Chinese participants has increased to almost two-thirds of total visitors this year. The other participants mainly came from Europe, others dentists from Germany, Benelux and France, who were accompanied by colleagues from the respective offices.

Learning from each other, seeing for yourself

The stated goal of the WDF, says Godfrey Ngai, which is not only to offer first-class lectures, but usually to foster the international exchange among colleagues: “The learning does not come from the lecture itself, but also through the interaction between the dentists. “For Ngai, the event is thus a chance to clear prejudices about the alleged inferior quality of Chinese dentures. “Organizing this WDF gives an opportunity for dentists from different parts of the world to visit Hong Kong or China. Those who have the opportunity to visit the dental laboratory in Shenzhen are impressed, not because the lab is big, but because of the systematic manner and logical approach of our work. Seeing is believing, that’s why you need to encourage them to come and see for themselves. “

High-quality dentures for a reasonable price

The Modern Dental Group Lt. is considered to be the largest globally acting group of dental laboratories, with captive laboratories and digital production sites on all continents. The group of companies concentrates on the subject of individual dentures and complex solutions, which are realized by highly skilled dental technicians as well as CAD / CAM experts.
