The members of the Clara-Schumann Youth Choir are between 10 and 17 years old. Many of them have been singing since the age of six in the progressively structured vocal range of the Clara-Schumann Music School, in which the youth choir is the central “upper-level choir”, so to speak. The director Justine Wanat bases the choral training of the young singers not only on a thorough musical training, but also on a careful vocal training.
The choir regularly presents its performances to the public. Not only in concerts, such as B. urban symphony concerts with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal music association, but also in musical theater productions such as B. at the German Opera on the Rhine in the opera "The Face in the Mirror" or as part of the Düsseldorf Festival in "Five and ES", a musical theater piece composed by David Graham especially for this choir.
In 2010 the youth choir with the 1st prize in the Mercedes-Benz choir competition and in 2014 won 2nd prize in the international children’s and youth choir competition “Concours International de Choeurs d’enfants ”in Paris.
. studied at the music college in Katowice, where she passed the master’s examination in 1986 with distinction in the field of choral conducting, choral conducting and musical education. During her studies she was awarded the second prize at the choir director competition in Poznan. Immediately after graduation, she worked as assistant choir director at the State Silesian Opera in Beuthen and at the same time as assistant at the music academy in Katowice.
Since 1998 she has been working as a choir director at the Clara Schumann Music School in Düsseldorf, where she leads several choir groups and main ensembles: children’s choirs, the boys ‘and girls’ choir, the youth choir and the youth chamber choir.
