Since I've been studying French, I've really got a taste for France. After three days in San Diego, which were unfortunately a bit disappointing, I went on to Los Angeles. To be honest, the city I had the lowest expectations for, although I can't say exactly why…
I knew LA was big, a lot of things were far apart, and I probably wouldn't get very far with my "we'll explore the whole city on foot" approach. Once arrived, we bring the car anyway directly to the airport and were from there with the subway further. And afterwards? First of all, putting the suitcases away, and then of course exploring the city!
One week in Hawaii – O'ahu to be exact – was the highlight of the road trip through the western USA. After three weeks of spending at most three nights in one place, the prospect of a week in the same hotel was really tempting.
As much as I like to travel, I need a break from time to time. Especially in combination with the farewell from New York it was a bit much at some point. Hawaii and a one week break was just the right thing to do. Even though I had planned to do a lot, it was clear to me: on Hawaii I would first decelerate.

And for the first time in over two years (my last real trip was to Australia in 2019), I didn't just spend it at home or in the local area, but actually finally went on a trip again. I was mainly just looking forward to finally getting out of the city again!
After a very relaxed but interesting stay in Vinales, we continue our journey to Cienfuegos, on the south coast of Cuba. Finally we are heading to the sea, even if we will not spend the next two days directly on the beach yet.
