This is definitely the biggest surprise of my trip so far. Maupiti is a true beauty. Already in the approach to the island one holds one's breath. It resembles Bora Bora a little bit, because of the silhouette of the angular volcano and the curved motus, which frame the beautiful lagoon. Maupiti is just much smaller. The lagoon shines in all shades of blue and turquoise

Do you also know? It’s just that the good restaurants are usually fully booked, because of course they are good and nowadays people like to go out: Out to dinner, out for lunch. Especially in the cities the restaurants are always crowded on weekdays and for example in Frankfurt I’m rarely lucky to get a table without a reservation. A seat at the counter is a good alternative every now and then, but a nice table with all the comforts and candlelight is part of a nice dinner out, especially for special dates, candlelight dinners or customer visits. That’s why I now regularly make reservations at the restaurant.
Here in the Ruhr area, you can find a piece of industrial culture in every corner. Today I would like to introduce you to an industrial monument that is practically in my neighborhood. My absolute favorite place in the whole Ruhr area. The old Duisburg North Landscape Park, also known as LaPaDu or LaPaNo, attracts more than a million visitors each year.

After Brisbane, Byron Bay was actually on our plan. But nothing came of it. The reason: the accommodations there are abhorrently expensive – especially on weekends and especially if you want to find something at relatively short notice, as we did.
Because we didn't want to pay more than 250 AUS dollars per night for a normal room (without breakfast, mind you), we looked around for alternative destinations. But all the places on the east coast (Port Stephens, Port Macqarie, Coffs Harbour) are just disproportionately expensive on weekends.
