Operational Buyer

The Operational Buyer is responsible for the day to day purchase to pay operational activities within our material group, focusing on purchase requisitions and purchase orders, goods or service receipt processes
Your main responsibilities will be:

Autonomous procurement and administration within given field of responsibility (e. g. maintenance of prices, conditions and bill of materials, conducting purchase requisitions, evaluation of quotations, processing limit orders, delivery date tracking, invoice control, setting up virtual credit cards etc.)

Negotiate and administer contracts to ensure that goods and services are delivered consistent with contract and bid specifications.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to draft specifications, work scopes, and buying strategies

Maintain strong relationship with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in service levels and proactive management of interferences between internal requisitioners and external partners

Support team members during times of sickness and vacation

What does the role involve?

The purpose of the role is to support Business Unit Procurement Managers. Responsible for support tasks such as purchase order creation, system maintenance, etc.
Scope: Entry-level operational role in the Business Unit Procurement structure

Our Regional Head Office is based at Circle Square in Central Manchester, where we are located a short walk from Oxford Rd train station and St Peter’s Square tram stop. We offer a hybrid working pattern between the office and home and different ways to work flexibly so please feel free to talk about what flexibility means to you at your interview.

What you need is:

  • Commercial education or Apprenticeship
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Business experience in operational procurement is of advantage
  • Independent way of working, accuracy, self-initiative, sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work in a team, self-confident manner, assertiveness
  • System affinity with common software (MS Office, SAP MM, etc.)
  • Experience in eProcurement and Travel Management systems as SAP Ariba Guided Buying and SAP Concur preferred.
