Top Walt Disney World Resorts with Young Children

When it comes to resorts there is certainly no shortage of choices at Walt Disney World. I have traveled with my kids to Disney World since they were three years old. Sorry but changing diapers just doesn’t sound fun to me while on a Disney vacation, my girls never went as babies. I think 3 is a great age to begin visiting Disney Parks, it’s an age of exploration and pure joy from the simplest of things around them. Many people begin planning and have no clue where to begin, I always say start with choosing the resort and plan the rest from there.

Here is my Top three list of resorts at Walt Disney World when visiting with pre-school & elementary age children. I included one resort from each Disney price category, there is something for every budget.

Best Disney World Resorts With Kids

Pop Century Resort

If you are looking to stay on a budget this is a great choice. Pop Century resort is within the “value” category of Disney resorts. With it’s bright colors, fun nostalgic themes and three pools you won’t be disappointed staying here with your little ones. There is a playground perfect for smaller children located in the 60’s section of the resort. You can grab a quick bite or a nice meal in the Everything Pop Food Court.

Dive In Movies are offered pool side every evening, if the little ones need to rest after a long day in the the parks this is a great FREE activity. Rooms have 2 double beds or 1 king as well as a separate bathroom. It’s a simple resort that offers great value and amenities when traveling with small children.

Caribbean Beach Resort

Looking for a taste of the Caribbean on your Orlando vacation without a hefty price tag, this “moderate” category resort is perfect. A tropical paradise built around 45-acre Barefoot Bay, this resort brings the Islands to you with swaying palm trees, white-sand beaches and colonial architecture.

Offering one of the best pools in my opinion, you can soak up the Florida sun on a rest day from the parks. Make a splash at this zero-entry pirate’s paradise, themed like a colonial Spanish fortress. Swashbuckling adventurers can zip by on one of 2 waterslides—including one measuring 102 feet long—and feel the spray of man-of-war-cannons. Little ones can play at the shipwreck play area, complete with mini slides, a crow’s nest and a barrel of laughs that dispenses a drenching downpour.

This resort offers rooms that sleep families of five with two queen beds and a murphy bed (for ages 9 and under), it has just finished a complete refurbishment and looks better than ever. If you have a Pirate lover in the family then you will want to stay in the Pirate Theme Rooms with two double beds.

Offering both a sit down restaurant and a food court dining options are plentiful during your stay.

Beach Club Resort

I adore the Beach Club, if my wallet allowed I would stay here every visit. This resort is a “deluxe” category resort, and with that label comes fantastic amenities.

Discover the casual elegance of this charming, New England-style Resort hotel. The Beach Club resort is adjacent to Epcot and you can walk to the park or take a friendship boat, you can also take a boat to Hollywood Studios. You will only need to take a resort bus to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

The Beach Club is home to Stormalong Bay, in my opinion the best pool in all of Walt Disney World Resort. Explore Stormalong Bay—a 3-acre water wonderland! Climb the mast of a life-size shipwreck and zip down one of the highest hotel waterslides at Walt Disney World Resort. Float down a lazy river, unwind in one of 3 whirlpool spas and soak up the sun on the elevated tanning deck. Children can make a splash in the kiddie pool—complete with a miniature waterslide—and delight in the sand beach that slopes gently into the main pool.

You can also walk to Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf from this resort, a great option for a break from the parks. Offering bike rentals, campfires on the beach, and movies under the stars, there is no shortage of activities for your little ones. The rooms at Beach Club resort sleep 5 with 2 queens and a day bed, you can also upgrade to concierge level for daily breakfast, snacks and evening treats. You will not be disappointed in a stay at the Beach Club Resort with your family.

Honestly, I could go on and on about all of these resorts but this is just a quick overview of my top choices when traveling with small children, or any children really!
