The best time to visit Turks and Caicos is between December and April. It will be peak season. So expect the resort and hotel rates to be anywhere from 30% to 50% higher than the rest of the year.

Visiting during this time also ensures you don’t run into hurricanes. Hurricane season runs from June to November.

Speaking of hurricanes, let’s give you the whole picture so you can plan your vacation the way you feel is best as opposed to what I tell you is right.

Hurricanes tend to pass Turks and Caicos by heading north to the Bahamas or eastern United States or swing down to the south.

One of the things to keep in mind when it comes to planning your vacation and hurricanes is to get travel insurance.

If you buy travel insurance to cover your vacation, even if you have to leave right after you arrive – or cancel the trip before you even get airborne – you can get all of your money back.

There are some other details you should know about if you plan on traveling to Turks and Caicos outside of the peak season.

What To Know About Visiting Turks and Caicos Outside of Peak Season

If you want to travel to Turks and Caicos outside of the busy season, you’ll want to schedule your trip for late August through October.

That’s when the hotels will have the lowest rates and least amount of guests in the hotel.

So when you book your vacation, check for discounts like extra nights for free and other perks.

One of those perks is that prices will be up to 50% lower for resorts than they would be during peak season.

But this comes with a catch.

Because there will be fewer people visiting the country, you can expect that many businesses will be closed during this time.

Now, it would be irresponsible of me to get you all geared up to visit Turks and Caicos during this time without also saying that this is the rainy season.

That might not be too big of a deal though.

Turks and Caicos has 360 days of sun. So if it does rain, you’ll probably be back on the beach in no time.

Spring Break on Turks and Caicos

Since we’re on the subject of visiting Turks and Caicos after and during the peak season, you should know what the situation is like during spring break.

Everyone knows that just about everywhere you go for vacation during spring break is going to come with lots of crowds, noise, drinking, and partying.

If this is what you want during spring break when you visit Turks and Caicos, you’ll probably want to book a trip to Cancun instead.

You see, Turks and Caicos doesn’t have the spring break crowd.

That means you won’t get any of the loud music, heaving drinking and noise that one typically associates with spring break.

What Makes a Trip to Turks and Caicos Worth It?

We’ve touched on a few things that answer this question. So let’s break it down in bullets so you can digest it easier:

• Doesn’t have the spring break crowds
• Hurricanes “generally” don’t hit the islands
• The official currency for the country is the U.S. dollar. So no need to worry about currency exchanges
• Doesn’t have the crowds of Nassau or Montego Bay
• Doesn’t have a big nightlife scene (great if you like things more relaxed. Not so great if you want a nightlife). And there is one casino
• 360 days of sun. from the east cost of the United States are short.

Let’s expand on this last point a little further.

Flights from the east coast will get you to Turks and Caicos between just over an hour to around 2 hours and 30 minutes depending on where you fly out from.

If you leave from New York, it will take 2 hours and 36 minutes for a flight to Turks and Caicos.

Assuming you left from Miami, that time gets cut down to 1 hour and 9 minutes.

But it gets better.

You can jump on a direct flight to Turks and Caicos from Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, London, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, and Toronto.

What Is There to Do When Visiting Turks and Caicos?

Now that we’ve got all the necessary stuff out the way, let’s get into the fun stuff.

There are a lot of things to keep you occupied during your visit to Turks and Caicos including:

Hopefully I’ve made a compelling case as to why you should make Turks and Caicos your next vacation destination.

Just to make sure that you have the best experience on your vacation, here are a few things I think you need to know.

Rent a Car

Unlike some other places you might go to on vacation, there is no public transportation in Turks and Caicos. So you’ll want to rent a car.

At this point you might be thinking, “Why not just get a cab or taxi?”

That is definitely an option. But you might still want the rental car.

Prices for taxis are high. Not to mention having to wait for one to arrive to pick you up. Having your own car will give you a lot more freedom.

Requirement to Visit

Since COVID is no longer ravaging the world, most of the requirements to visit Turks and Caicos have been lifted.

That means you no longer have to get TCI Assured Travel authorization.

COVID-19 tests are no longer required.

And the requirement to have travel insurance is also no longer needed.

You should make sure that your passport is valid. And if you need to renew it, you give yourself enough time to receive it.

But travel insurance covers more than just getting sick. In fact, it can protect your vacation from things happening back home even after your arrived at Turks and Caicos.

However, you still must be fully vaccinated to enter the country. That means the two primary shots and at least one booster shot.
