You will enjoy an introduction to kite surfing, stand up paddle board (SUP) activity, snorkelling and windsurfing throughout your experience.

Lifestyle Tour

MEPM will provide you with a complimentary Cuba lifestyle tour. On the tour you will be able to discover the town of Havana as well as rare opportunities to invest in real estate in the Capital city. We recommend that you take this tour at the beginning of your Havana Watersports Experience. You can then use the information you glean to make the most of your visit.

Flights are not included in the experience. There are 10 airports in Cuba, we recommend flying into the largest Havana airport for this experience­. Need to Know

Visas: Check if you need a visa. All nationalities need a visa to enter Cuba. EU, British, US and Canadian nationals can secure a visa / tarjeta de turista (tourist card) to allow 30 days stay. To qualify for a tourist card all entrants must have an onward flight ticket and travel medical insurance. Extensions can be requested once in Cuba.

Passports: Be sure to have at least 6 months remaining on your passport before you travel.

Currency: Cuban Convertable Peso (CUC$) and Cuban Peso (CUP). Exchange rates differ for each currency – check carefully.

Credit Cards: Credit Cards are accepted in hotels, but many other places require cash payments. Credit Cards are usually subject to a fee. There are very few ATMs available.

Language: Spanish (English spoken in large establishments)

Voltage: 110 volts (BUT 220 volts (50 hz) in most hotel rooms)

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive & Settle In

Arrive in stunning Havana. You will be met at Havana airport and will then travel in style to the stunning Melia Habana in Havana, Cuba. You will check in to your room and and spend the day as you wish (subject to arrival time).

Day 2: Havana Discovery

After a long flight you will have a day to explore Havana and get your bearings. Today is the perfect day for your Havana discovery tour where one of our local team will show you around and tell you about the possible real estate opportunities available. You can book your preferred time and the tour will take circa 2 – 3 hours.

We recommend you use the remainder day to enjoy the beach at the hotel or wander around Havana and soak up the culture and 1950s and jazz vibes.

Lifestyle Tour

Day 3: Intro to Kiting

It’s time to get in the water for the first of the watersports activities. You will discover Kite Surfing for the day with a 5 hour Discover Kite Surfing activity. You will have a bright and early start with the lessons in the morning.

The lessons are a combination of on-land and in the water teaching and by the end of the 5 hours you will . You will learn the basic skills on land such as assessing the wind, using safety systems, setting up your kit and kite control before learning to start in the water and stand on the board.

Take a break for lunch and then spend the afternoon at the beach or enjoy watching the professional kite boarders do their tricks and practice their kiting skills.

Day 4: SUP

Stand up paddle boarding, affectionately know by those ‘in the know’ as SUP, is an incredibly fun and surprisingly difficult activity.

Start with a slow morning enjoying the hotel beach or the wonders of Havana before taking your lunch at an establishment of your selection. In the afternoon you will enjoy 5 hours of SUP, plenty of time to get your balance and practice before taking on other SUPs in a race and watch the sun set as you slowly paddle back to shore!

Day 5: Snorkeling

Spend a day snorkeling in the stunning Bay of Pigs on the south of the island. You will travel across the island during the morning (circa 2.5 – 3 hours drive) before arriving at the Bay of Pigs, one of Cuba’s best snorkeling sites. You will enjoy three hours of snorkeling to discover the beauties of the bay with its crystal clear waters, huge variety of fish and beautiful coral. On your return trip or at the Bay of Pigs you will stop for a light lunch at a restaurant of your choosing before being returned to Havana.

Day 6: Windsurfing

Enjoy windsurfing at La Concha beach. You will spend the morning having lessons appropriate to your windsurfing ability making this appropriate to beginners and experts alike. There are slightly different locations off the beach depending on your abilities and the crystal clear waters and regular wind make this a genuinely pleasing experience.

You will take a gap for lunch to replenish your energy. Then, with your newfound or improved windsurfing skills, you will have windsurf kit hire throughout the afternoon to explore the beach and the coastline at your leisure or beginners can continue lessons throughout the day.

Day 7: Snorkeling Coral Beach

Spend your last full day in Cuba on a wonderful snorkeling excursion on the north of the island where you will enjoy a shore dive. You can try hookah snorkeling (best for going deeper) to achieve depths of up to 5 meters.

There is a large barrier reef at Playa Coral with more than 30 different types of coral as well as a huge variety of fish.

You can stop at the small restaurant on Playa Coral for a light bite before exploring more of the reef.

Day 8: Homeward Bound

It’s your last day in Cuba before you head home. Depending on your flight timings, why not explore some more of Havana or just kick back and relax on the hotel beach before you leave.

Health Requirements: All participants must have health insurance as part of their regular travel insurance.

Stay Multi-Accommodation: It is understood that you will stay in an accommodation with other guests of the experience and while each guest / party will have a private room, common facilities will be shared.

Travel Insurance: It is compulsory for all guests to have travel insurance for Cuba.

Cancellation Policy: Bookings made are non-refundable from 90 days prior to the date of arrival. Bookings can be adjusted up until 14 days prior to arrival, but additional costs may be incurred in case cancellations with certain suppliers are not possible.

Payments: Payment is required upon receipt of the booking confirmation document by the customer and payment should be made by bank transfer.

Golf: Green fees and buggy hire is included for all courses for the full course length. You must bring your own clubs. Participants must meet the required handicaps. Proof of handicap necessary (28/36)

Spa and thalasso treatments are included as set out in the itinerary. It is the responsibility of the guest to declare any medical issues upon arrival to the spa and thalasso. Experiences are not suitable for pregnant women, but alternatives can be arranged upon request.

Travel Insurance: It is compulsory for all guests to have normal travel insurance – please take out appropriate insurance for your activities with a reputable insurer in your home country.
