Combined WWII history and sightseeing tour of the Berchtesgaden area

Full day tour combining the history with the most popular attractions. Perfect for those wanting to discover the history as well as the beauty of the area.

The Berchtesgaden area holds so much historical value with regards to World WarII. The first half of the tour covers many of the historically important sites on the Obersalzberg, including the more hidden locations that most tourists never hear about, designed to really provide an authentic account of the fascinating history of this area.

The second half of the tour would be a visit to either:

– The Eagle’s Nest perched atop the Kehlstein mountain exploring the fascinating history of Hitler’s teahouse including the original features, such as the huge marble fireplace and the famous brass elevator,
– The stunning Königssee (King’s Lake) with the chance to take the boat ride across the lake to the famous St. Bartholomew pilgrim church,
– The Salt Mines (Salzbergwerk) taking a fun, educational tour of the still operational 500 year-old underground mines.

Itinerary

The first half of the day would be an historical tour of the Obersalzberg:

– Driving tour of the Obersalzberg mountainside with detailed historical commentary throughout.

– Visit on foot into the woods to the lesser known ruins of Hitler’s Berghof home, including the opportunity to experience the panoramic views that were once on offer from his very house.

– Exploration of more hidden locations. Having lived directly on the Obersalzberg for many years I can show you some of the more hidden secret areas.

The 2nd half of the day is up to you! You would have the choice between 3 options:

– Continue the WWII theme exploring Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest perched atop the Kehlstein mountain.
– Visit the stunning Königssee (King’s Lake),
– Tour the 500 year old Salt Mines (Salzbergwerk)

PLEASE NOTE: Through 2022 the bunker systems and Documentation Centre are closed for renovations. Alternative WWII locations will be included in the tour in their place.
