Split Airport Guide
Located just outside of Trogir, Split Airport is a gateway to the Dalmatian Islands and the most important airport along the Croatian coastline that even surpasses Dubrovnik in annual passenger counts. Split Airport is also the only international airport serving the city of Split and goes by the IATA code of SPU.
About
Zracna Luka Split, known in English the Split Airport is sometimes also called Resnik or Kastela Airport. Resnik is a small summer resort that makes a part of Kastela Riviera.
In 2019, before COVID-19 disrupted tourism around the world, Split Airport took in a record, 3.3 Million passengers with the busiest months being July (723,000), August (672,000), and June (513,000). These were followed by September (470,000), May (310,000), and October (247,000), while during dips considerably in November through March.
A new terminal was also added in 2019, that contained 50,000 sqm of spacing, increasing the passenger capacity to 2,500 per hour, and 40,000 travelers per day.
Airlines
Most major European airlines fly into Split from April through October with the local Croatia Airlines having the most daily flights. Budget airlines include Eurowings , Easyjet , Jet2 , TUI , WizzAir , and Norwegian .
During the winter period from November through March, the only companies flying into Split are Croa t ia Airlines , Eurowings , and TradeAir .
Airport Transfers
Split Airport is regularly connected by official buses that leave approximately 90 minutes before scheduled flight times. In the high season of July through August, it’s best to show up at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.
The cheapest airport transfer option is via public transport, but it’s not recommended, as direct shuttle buses offer comfort and ease at a fairly low cost.
Private Transfers
The most economical option for group travel to and from Split Airport is via private transfers which you can also book in advance for an arrival pick up or departure.
KiwiTaxi’s economy transfer starts from 28 € for 3 persons, a 4-passengers minivan is 38 €, and a 7-passenger minibus is 41 €. You can also reserve a more comfortable vehicle for groups of up to 4 people for 44 €.
Shuttle Buses
The Pleso Shuttle is the official transfer bus that goes to and from Split Airport and the main bus station at Split Harbor. This is a regular connection that takes 30 minutes and whose schedule is timed by the daily flight schedule. Buses heading into Split are usually 20 minutes after flight arrivals, while buses going to the airport from Split Harbor are usually 90 minutes prior to flight times.
In general, there at 1-4 Pleso shuttle buses per day to and from Split Airport, which is based on the number of incoming flights into Split Airport.
One-way tickets cost 30 HRK (4 €) with the arrival schedules and departure schedules being posted online roughly 30 days in advance.
Taxis
While private transfers are generally cheaper than taxis, if you’re already out of the gate and have nothing booked, then airport taxis are relatively easy to find.
A one-way taxi from the airport to the city-center will cost 35-40 €. Look for an official, yellow Airport Taxi Split sign atop the roof as well, as well as printed on the door panel. If no taxis are in the queue or if you want to schedule one, you can call +385 21 895 237

Public Transport
Two yellow Promet buses connect Split with Trogir and on the way, both stop right outside of Split Airport.
At 21 HRK (3 €) these public buses are NOT recommended as they are only 1 € cheaper than the Pleso shuttle bus which offers a more direct route in comfort.
Bus № 37
Takes you to Split or Trogir and stops at the airport along the way. It does, however, leave from the Sukoisanska Bus Station, not at the main bus station by the harbor, and is 1.5 km walking from the city center.
Bus № 38
Another option from Split Airport that leaves from the same point as the № 37 but the route goes through the Kastela Riviera villages. This option is longer, and a little more scenic.
