Whether it be Bondi, Manly, Bronte among others for surfing, or the more tranquil harbour scene is more your go, you will be able to find your patch of sand in the perfect setting.
The best views of Sydney can be had by climbing the Harbour Bridge, or if you’re not feeling that energetic a ferry trip out to Manly does the trick just as well.
While Sydney’s beauty is sometimes seen as only skin deep, there is plenty to discover if you scratch the surface. The historic Rocks, where Sydney’s convict settlement began and can still be explored, has transformed into a glitzy area of fine dining, boutique shops and galleries. If the shopping here hasn’t satisfied your urges, carry on to Oxford St, Paddington and Surry Hills. If you get carried away and continue on at any number of hip bars or grungy pubs in these areas, you might as well kick on to Darlinghurst and Kings Cross and see what the night brings.
There is so much to do and see in Sydney that nearby gems are often overlooked. An hour or two to the west are the stunning Blue Mountains, with excellent hikes and caving to be experienced. To the north, explore and sample some wineries from the renowned Hunter Valley. And take in Port Stephens and Nelson Bay as the perfect escape from bustling Sydney, while keeping an eye out for a few dolphins.
