Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Hospitality for business people

When you think of Hilton hotels worldwide, you might think of reliable quality, professional service and business travelers. However, the term "warm hospitality" is not the first thing that comes to mind; after all, one usually associates it with an owner-managed hotel in Tyrol or on the island of Rugen – but not with a business hotel at an international airport: But it is precisely this warm hospitality that our author Friederike Hintze finds when she visits the Hilton Frankfurt Airport. An enthusiastic hotel review.

If you've ever been to Frankfurt Airport, you won't have missed the iconic The Squaire building. The 660-meter-long, gleaming silver office building is home to the auditing firm KPMG and Deutsche Lufthansa, among others. And Hilton also has two properties in The Squaire – a Garden Inn for budget travelers and right next to it, a classic Hilton Hotel. Both of them impress with their outstanding location: After all, The Squaire building was built directly above the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport. For example, arriving guests can walk directly from the train track or Terminal 1 to their hotel room. Again, Frankfurt's city center is only a few stops away by public transportation.

Hilton Airport Frankfurt: The first impression

Naturally, the Hilton Frankfurt Airport, which opened in 2011, has a professional, businesslike atmosphere. The spacious, light-flooded lobby looks more like an atrium and is furnished in straight-lined furniture. Hessian homeliness sets in quickly, however, when we are welcomed by the young, friendly receptionist, who also doesn't forget to hand out a WLAN code. A courtesy from the hotel. Normally a fee is charged for this. In return, the guest can also rely on very well-functioning WLAN – in many other hotels of other chains this is unfortunately still not the rule.

The Deluxe Suite with king-size bed at the Hilton Airport Frankfurt

We move into our spacious deluxe suite with king-size bed, which consists of a living room and a bedroom as well as a separate WC. Another surprise from the hotel management sweetened the day for us in the truest sense of the word: two small bottles of sparkling wine together with a few nibbles from the fine, internationally oriented hotel restaurant RISE were pushed into our room. In this way we also get to know the culinary skills of the Hilton Frankfurt Airport. We can't complain.

In the guest rooms and suites, too, the interior meets the well-known, high-quality Hilton standard that business travelers want to rely on. But also as a leisure traveler one feels quite well here. Guests will find a Nespresso machine, Smart TVs, a well-equipped mini-bar and other amenities. What's particularly striking: the guest rooms and suites are soundproofed. On the eighth floor, you look down on the busy multi-lane road and on planes taking off – and hear nothing of it.

Multiple awards – and for good reason

The Hilton Frankfurt Airport has already been named "Best Airport Hotel in Germany" and "Best Airport Hotel in Europe" several times by the International Hotel Awards. And for good reason: Not only is the location good. The hotel has numerous conference and meeting facilities, the RISE restaurant as well as a bar in the lobby, a considerable 24-hour fitness and wellness area with sauna and steam bath as well as two executive floors with an associated lounge.

We are granted access to the latter during our stay: Here we mingle with the international crowd of guests, enjoy snacks and drinks from a small but sufficient buffet and look down through the large window panes into the atrium. Christoph, who will be assisting the executive guests this evening, will be taking care of us. And he knows his business: Not submissive, but obliging, Christoph is always on hand. Its warm nature is infectious. This is fun.

With all the professionalism, not to forget a down-to-earth hospitality: It's refreshing and makes us think back fondly on our stay. And that's something you first have to achieve as an airport hotel: To be remembered.
