Bali round trip route 7 days plus tips to hidden corners

If you think Bali is touristy and overcrowded, I'm afraid I have to agree with you. As always, however, there is also a very big BUT here. If you are looking for unknown corners and true treasures, say goodbye to places like Kuta or Ubud.

Discover the real Bali where you don't expect to find it. Thinking outside the box and a dose of courage will be rewarded when you embark on the unknown Bali. During my little 7 day round trip, I visited these (almost) unseen and unusual places.

Tirta Gangga: The Royal Jewel in Bali

Hooray, they still exist, the hidden and untouristy corners in Bali. The right time makes your visit to the royal garden of Tirta Gangga a special experience. Visited by many school classes, it can get a little more crowded here. But don't worry, it gets quiet in the evening or early morning. Tirta Gangga turns into the perfect photo spot.

What to see here?

Besides enchanted waterholes, fountains and a lot of koi carp, you can also enjoy a very special moment of silence here.

Where to stay?

Make it easy on yourself and spend the night in the Water Palace area. Here you are alone in the evening, because there are only a handful of rooms. In the morning you start with a breakfast with a view in time for the first rays of sunshine in the park.

Candidasa: Relaxed flair on the coast

Candidasa is not necessarily the glitziest gem, in terms of beach life in Bali. Here it is more leisurely and above all also much quieter. Party? Search best somewhere else. Here you can enjoy the calming sounds of the sea and delicious local food.

Pemuteran: The pearl in Bali's north

One of the least known towns in the north of Bali is definitely Pemuteran. Here the clocks tick differently and the few visitors get lost in great and extraordinary resorts. The visitors are (unfortunately) sometimes so overwhelmed by the resorts that very few get lost in the surrounding temples. This is your chance.

What to see here?

If you, like me, can't get enough of the great Balinese temples, you should definitely visit 3 temples nearby. Pura Pulaki, Pura Pabean and Pura Melanting are waiting to be explored by you. And one thing I guarantee you, you will be alone in at least one (if not all) of the temples.

Where to stay?

Treat yourself to a good portion of luxury and exclusivity and check in to a tent. No, don't be afraid of creepy crawlies or stuffy air. The tents in the are guaranteed air-conditioned, bombproof and pure luxury.

Munduk: Mountains, lakes and and very special moments

See Bali from above and breathe in the greenest air on the island: you can do all this in and around Munduk. The small town in the north of Bali is the perfect starting point for a tour by scooter. No clogged roads and other unsafe scooter riders await you here.

What to see here?

Look forward to breathtaking viewpoints, waterfalls and greenery as far as the eye can see. It's so much fun to ride the scooter through the hilly landscape. In between you make a stop to nibble fresh strawberries. A half day excursion to the Jatiluwih rice terraces is a must.

Where to stay?

Simple but authentic accommodation in Munduk. From here you have a dreamlike view of the north coast of Bali. But beware, the supposed proximity to the sea is deceptive, because in the evening it can get quite cold here, you are 700 meters above sea level.
