Visiting social institutions and associations in Kaiserslautern

The summer visit of the SPD regional association Rhineland-Palatinate today leads Secretary General Daniel Stich and Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler, Minister of State, to Kaiserslautern. The two SPD politicians have been visiting institutions and associations since the morning with address the issues of poverty and difficult life situations and ways out of them. After the SOS Children’s Village, the Helferkreis Kalkofen e.V. and the asternweg e.V., the afternoon continues in the Job Center Kaiserslautern for the West Palatinate Initiative.

Explained about this SPD general secretary Daniel Stich:

“The task of social democracy is to make people’s lives a little bit better every day. We must also take this to heart when it comes to renewing our party. We have to transform the welfare state so that we can break the poverty cycle. The SPD Rhineland-Palatinate takes responsibility for this and wants to be Kümmerer on site. That is why it is important to us not to talk about people who are affected by poverty, but with them. And that’s exactly what we’re doing here in Kaiserslautern today. We get into conversation with affected people and helpers in an unbureaucratic manner and see where we can continue to support as a party.

In the club garden of the Kalkofen helper circle or at the asternweg grill party, I clearly felt that there is a difference between the political discussion about poverty and reality. We experience a lot of empathy on site, you take care of each other, there can be no question of social cold. I have great respect for the work of the institutions and associations and as the SPD general secretary I can say: We are your political allies in Rhineland-Palatinate. "

Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler, Minister of State, highlights:

"Poverty has many Facets and can affect people in all stages of life. The SOS Family Aid Center in Kaiserslautern is therefore the first important point of contact. The West Palatinate Initiative provides Another important support on the way out of poverty. Together with the employees in these institutions, the volunteers in associations, such as the Helferkreis Kalkofen eV or the asternweg eV, we have to fight together, especially the inheritance of poverty to break through generations. Those who are poor should not and must not remain poor forever. This must apply especially to children living below the poverty line. The free-of-charge education that the SPD Rhineland-Palatinate has always expanded is an important building block in order to enable them to participate in society.

Here in Kaiserslautern there are really good projects that empower those affected and help them find ways out of poverty. Such initiatives and projects are encouraging and can be role models, just as the findings from the West Palatinate Initiative can be found in the new participation opportunities law of SPD Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil. I would like to thank all of the employees, the volunteers in the facilities and our discussion partners today for giving us these important insights. ”
