Equipment Checklist for Everest Base Camp Trek

Equipment checklist for Everest Base Camp Trek: a complete packing list from head to toe with equipment guide.

Confused about what to pack and not for Everest base camp trek ? We are here to help you and guide you through the recommended gear list for the Everest base camp trek. This gear list for Everest base camp also applies to other high altitude treks in Nepal except for the climbing.

While packing for the Everest base camp trekking, the first thing you should consider and check is the timing of your visit. Seasonal variation is a key component. Each trekking season requires changes in your packing list and with great variations in elevation, you should basically pack for both warmer days at 2800m and colder nights at 5000m.

If you are trekking during the normal trekking season (Spring and Autumn) then you will not need additional gears but if you plan to do the trek during winter (Dec to Feb) then you should pack a hardshell jacket, hardshell trousers and gaiters to protect against the snow.

Similarly, if you plan to trek during summer/monsoon then your packing list should consist of rain protection gears such as a waterproof jacket, poncho etc.

During the trekking season (Spring and Autumn), the temperature varies from the lowest -10 Degree C at Gorekshep to a maximum of 15 to 20 Degree C during daytime at the starting point. Your trek starts at an elevation of 2800m and goes up to an elevation of 5545m thus your packing list should consist of all essential gears required for the journey.

Travel lightweight if possible but do not abandon the required gear list. Packing too much than required will take unnecessary space and you do not need to change your jacket and trousers every day in the mountain. Also do not compromise on the quality of gears as the good gear will provide better performance and durability.
