When is the best time to do the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu?

April – September is the dry season, when rainfall is low. This is seen as a better time to visit as the weather is better. Therefore, you can expect a larger crowd during this period.

It is recommended to book 6 months in advance, so you don’t run the risk of running out of places for your adventure in Peru.

Permits are sold out months in advance. Normally, we recommend booking the Inca Trail 8 months in advance.

If you want to go during the peak period, you have to book well in advance. I had to book five months in advance (in May) to get a spot at the end of October.
