Spring Awakening: Bar Campari in Vienna opens Schanigarten

Since October 2019, Vienna's city center has become one red more colorful with Bar Campari. From March you can enjoy the Italian joie de vivre now also outdoors – in the newly opened Bar Campari Schanigarten.

Italian joie de vivre X Viennese hospitality

A piece of Italian bar culture lives and experiences since October in the Bar Campari, inspired by the VitalitA of the metropolis Milan, paired with the typical Viennese hospitality. The result: a beautiful, uncomplicated place of togetherness where everyone feels welcome and where la Vita is still bella and the cuisine deliziosa. Or in short: Italy in its most relaxed form, in the middle of Vienna.

"With Bar Campari, we want to inspire people to take life a little slower sometimes, to make a shared aperitivo after work a habit, or to spend a few pleasant hours with friends," says Simone Edler, Managing Director of Campari Austria.

After all, Campari with its bright red has always been synonymous with the Italian way of enjoying life. In the Bar Campari, the signs are already pointing to spring: from now on, the aperitivo or cocktail can be enjoyed under the open sky in the Schanigarten. It is open from Monday to Saturday daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. Together with Campari, none other than Peter Friese shows himself responsible for bar and kitchen, with his city-famous restaurant just a minute a piedi away from Bar Campari.

"Italian cuisine stands for perfection in simplicity. But it is always also an art to achieve perfection in the simple. We want to celebrate this art with good seasonal ingredients and the best Negroni, Campari Spritz and Campari Garibaldi in town," says Peter Friese. The two companies have already cooperated successfully many times in the past and now di nuovo combine the best of their two worlds.

Where architecture meets art and Campari

The briefing for the spatial design concept was "Art meets Campari" and was holistically implemented by the architecture studio of Milanese architect Matteo Thun. The source of inspiration was the artist Fortunato Depero, whose futuristic graphics have characterized Campari's appearance since the 1920s and whose signature is reflected in the graphic design of the appearance as well as in the design and color scheme of the premises: Red, black and white paint a dynamic overall picture and lend the lively flair of Italian cafe bars.

"Creativity needs space, needs atmosphere for inspiration, a framework for the art of being together, a basis for dialogue. Campari builds bridges – in Milan as in Vienna. It's about the pleasure of art, communication and the enjoyment of the very best mixed drinks."says Matteo Thun, for whom the Campari bar is a special project close to his heart.

School of Inspiration – The Campari Academy

Who acts with Amore, has found his vocation. On the second floor of Bar Campari, however, not only master classes and educational programs are taught by the talents of the scene for professional and future restaurateurs, bartenders and mixologists. It's also about inspiring Viennese and cosmopolitans with the spirit of Campari: Inspiration, motivation and knowledge transfer are the mix that creates space for impulses, trends, talks and discussions, but also creativity, art, festivals and shows in the rooms of the Campari Academy.

Of espressi, negroni and stuzzicchini

Into the Piazza-Feeling: Lively conversations with a comfortable lunch snack lead, a fast Espresso enjoy or simply quiet observer of the hustle and bustle be. At Bar Campari, memories of a vibrantly colorful Italy become tangible – best enjoyed with a Negroni, Campari Shakerato or Garibaldi in one hand and a delicious Italian snack in the other. And what could be better after a stroll through the city center of Vienna to find yourself in an Italian piazza?? We would say: Niente!
